FULL TITLE: Trump offers Planned Parenthood way out of being defunded telling it: Stop abortions and you will keep federal cash
The White House has informally offered to keep taxpayer dollars in place for Planned Parenthood – as long as the organization no longer provides abortions, the New York Times has learned.
The deal shows how President Trump is being pulled between his conservative base, and Republican members of Congress who want to swiftly defund the group, and his daughter Ivanka Trump, who has supported the women's healthcare provider.
For Planned Parenthood, closing up the abortion side of the clinics is a non-starter, especially since taxpayer dollars can't legally fund abortions anyway.

Cecile Richards has loudly promoted that abortions account for only 3% of its services. That is a PP position. It should be a no brainer to eliminate 3% of services offered to retain 100% of half their income. Maybe it’s because without exterminations to peddle, PP really has no purpose.

Aside from barrier methods, none of the things you listed prevent conception. But they do prevent implantation.
It’s still snuffing out an innocent human life. But it is done 12 times a year, multiplied by the number of fertile years = the number of innocent souls denied entry into our selfish world. I would not want to face that tally at my individual or general judgement.
How does DailyMail know Ivanka supports Planned Parenthood? I assume her husband’s against it, since he’s Orthodox.
I don’t know if the DC Chabad synagogue she attends would kick her out if they learned she supports Planned Parenthood, but they’d probably not invite her to gatherings or talk to her.

Most abortions are sought by women who simply look on them as alternative birth control so I’m not sure I’d characterize them as mostly ‘one-night-stands’, just general irresponsibility.
As far as ‘life of the mother’ reasons, there are very few conditions in early pregnancy where the delivery of the baby is required to save the mother’s life. Only early ectopics (tubal pregnancies) which can now be treated medically might safely be treated there. However, since nobody actually goes to abortion clinics for prenatal care, it is unlikely that ectopic pregnancies are being discovered or treated there routinely outside of those found when the woman is already seeking abortion for other reasons.
As for life-threatening conditions later in pregnancy, none of them require the death of the baby, just the delivery, which unfortunately may be too early for the baby to survive. None of these should be treated outside of a hospital, and there is no reason why every effort can’t be made to save the baby, too, if the pregnancy is far enough along.
I can’t imagine a circumstance where planned parenthood has actually saved any pregnant woman’s life.
I think this is a good tactic. If they do so much good other than abortions, then there is no reason for them to continue doing abortions and jeopardize all of that humanitarian work they are doing for women’s health. (do I need the /s?)
Anyway, this way evil Trump isn’t cutting off women’s health care, PP is.

You are right. Trump has designed a Procrustian bed for PP. no matter which they choose they won’t survive.

Well what I meant about one night stand pregnancies was more like they have recreational abortions; two or three months down the road and they’re tired of it all.

You know that’s a phony number , abortions are 50% of their income , ripping off medicare and medicaid for overpriced contraception is another 48% , the rest is STD screening. They come up with the 3% number by breaking down the individual actions in an abortion and only count the actual vacuuming or dismembering toward that percentage while the paperwork (per form) , ultrasound , medication etc. etc. etc. are all counted equally with the act.
looking at my numbers I’m a bit off as grants and contracts with local gov’t’s aren’t in the income mix but you get the idea.
The Republican Congress needs to take the full amount of money that has been going to Planned Parenthood and give it to health organizations that don’t do abortions. They need to do that at the same time that Planned Parenthood is defunded. They also need to publicize doing so.
Of course I realize it’s fake. But I embraced it to accentuate the professed scarcity of abortions to PP business model. As I said, what business manager wouldn’t agree to stop 3% of business activity to preserve around 50% of income?
