Okay, a little offbeat choice here- The Rooftop Singers, “Walk Right In” (1963).
The double 12 string acoustic melody line in that is just fantastic.

That would be Colin Blunstone, who sang a few great songs for The Alan Parsons Project, like "Old and Wise" and "The Eagle Will Rise Again."
