‘Phenomenal’ California Snowpack Nears Record Levels
CBS News ^ | March 1, 2017

The Sierra Nevada snowpack is close to setting records notched more than three decades ago — a welcome sight after five years of punishing drought in California, surveyors said Wednesday.

A series of storms that doused the state in the first two months of the year brought the water content of the snowpack up to a “pretty phenomenal” 185 percent of normal, well above the 84 percent of normal a year ago, said Frank Gehrke, the state’s chief snow surveyor.

Winter snowfall on the 400-mile mountain range provides roughly one-third of the water used in the nation’s most populous state as the snow melts over the spring and summer and fills reservoirs supplying farmers and city dwellers.

Well, I guess the drought is over now.
Nah, it too useful for the enviro-whackos to keep it going.

If your name is “Donner” you may want to hold off on any trips to Cali, at least for a few months.

Most of it will go straight to the ocean unused, because they don’t have the storage.

Somehow California officials will find a way to make this into a predictable disaster instead of a wise opportunity.

Lake Oroville needs to get the main spillway fixed.....

That and get the out flow fixed from the Hydro-electric....power plant.

I'd guess they are doing both...but they need to get the power plant done...so they can shed water off...without using the main spillway.....

From what I've seen they are doing exactly that...

Hope the work keeps on going well.....

Californians will still not be happy. Something will be wrong with the snow - wrong type, wrong color, something for sure.

Lots of snow here. Over 43 feet of snow on nearby Mammoth Mountain. The town of Mammoth Lakes now looks like a scene from the movie Doctor Zhivago.

The radical leftists certainly can discover some never before heard of microscopic critter necessitating diversion of all this runoff into the Pacific rather than allowing it to reach cities or the Central Valley croplands.

Calling Mullah Barackski Obamavich.

Well, since the snow is white, it must be a racist plot against the proud black, brown, yellow and other non-white residents of Caliph-phony-a, especially those who are here illegally.

Guess we'll have to the runoff drain to the Pacific or divert it to Nevada and other racist states.

Yes but the models predicted flooding caused by global warming as well as the permanent drought.

Did anyone here read the book “For Fear We Shall Perish” about the Donner party? It was hair-raising, what those people went through.
