I tried using Microsoft “Easy Transfer” to move a program from one of my laptops last night and found they no longer offer it, in Windoze 10.
They partnered with another company who, at one time, offered their software for free.
It’s $60 bucks for their program now.
Any ideas for a free resource?
A Wang 2500 was my first. Stored games written in BASIC on casette tapes.
Microsoft still hasn’t removed the old school wbadmin (Windows Backup) client from their stack. You can use wbadmin from a command prompt, backup your machine to an external drive or network location, and mount the VHDX file it creates in Windows 10 to copy over your data.
I agree their removal of Easy Transfer was extremely shortsighted, but there are certain things in the security realm that were concerns with it. Microsoft didn’t want to keep the hooks in the kernel for that product to work, so they canned it.
I didn’t think “Backup” would wholesale allow me to transfer a program.
I’ll look into that...
