Bill couldn’t even get the definition of cognitive dissonance right.
It is the right and duty for all scientists and engineers to test and challenge all theories and test results.
Not for political scalp hunting but to understand.
Personally, I believe that current thought on “Dark Energy” is nonsense but I don’t call those who believe in it “Delusional”.
I respect their opinions.
Bill Nye isn’t even a climate scientist. But of course, that doesn’t stop him from making a total ass of himself.
Bill Nye suffers the psychological delusional of believing that hosting a children’s TV show in the 90s somehow makes him a scientific authority.

The northern hemisphere was under a glacier in a few blinks of an eye in geologic time. There were no smoke stacks or tailpipes 30K years ago to cause “climite change”. It’s all natural. These people are glorified morons
Hmm, “dark energy” sounds racisss to me, so I don’t believe in it.
He needs to understand he’s the denier:
- Sun cycles not considered
- All models are not forecasting accurately
- ...they don’t even back-cast well!
- Data is “adjusted” to match the theory
- CO2 is a trace gas dwarfed by other greenhouse gasses, like water vapor
- No the earth has not warmed for almost 20 years, once you ignore “adjusted” data
- Earth has had higher levels of CO2 in the past, before the industrial revolution, yet we had no catastrophic “runaway” effect
- Nobody believes CO2 ISN’T a greenhouse gas, we just don’t believe a bit more of it really has much effect
- Nobody can tell us what the CO2 levels or temperature would be right now if people didn’t exist
- Nobody can tell us what the “right” temperature is

Funny because this scientific explanation of cognitive dissonance theory proposed by Leon Festinger sounds exactly like the Al Gore cult who had to change from “warming” to “climate change” when their dire predictions turned out to be unfulfilled. Nye is the one in de-Nye-Al.

Leon Festinger (1957) proposed cognitive dissonance theory, which states that a powerful motive to maintain cognitive consistency can give rise to irrational and sometimes maladaptive behavior.
Cognitive dissonance was first investigated by Leon Festinger, arising out of a participant observation study of a cult which believed that the earth was going to be destroyed by a flood, and what happened to its members — particularly the really committed ones who had given up their homes and jobs to work for the cult — when the flood did not happen.
While fringe members were more inclined to recognize that they had made fools of themselves and to “put it down to experience”, committed members were more likely to re-interpret the evidence to show that they were right all along (the earth was not destroyed because of the faithfulness of the cult members).

The one when he talked about his brain leaking out through holes in the back of his head was a hoot!
That small sentence is condescending , demeaning, abusive, and cliche all in one. Nye is not a climatologist. he's not even a meteorologist. He is, however, a pretentious non-introspective douchebag.

So another character wants to talk about the genome thing and he says something about “I was on a black box project and it's all top secret and you wouldn't understand it anyway. BUT - I can create a bomb out of household stuff.”
So - they go out and do some stupid “science” experiments (just simple chemistry) and cool stuff happens. Sort of like Bill Nye doing similar things on his kid's shows, and now he is viewed as a “global warming expert”.
