Did these men ever wonder if the rest of us, whom they sacrificed so much for, have taken care of the country in a way worthy of their sacrifice?

My wife is a former USAF avionics technician, her old job being the maintenance of the Pave Penny and LANTIRN targeting systems for USAF smart bombs on the A-10 *Warthawg*- among other things.

The USAF public affairs office hung the official nickname *Thunderbolt II* on the wartie, just about ensuring that the aircrew and maintainers would call it something else, and so they did. But in the early days before the *warthawg* moniker had stuck [one of the early A-10 units waas based in Arkansas] the name *Mitchell II* almost took hold. Like the B-25, the A-10 is twin-engined, is an outstanding low-altitude bomb hauler, and, like the B-25H versions armed with a 75mm cannon in the nose, is a pretty good gunship for those on the ground needing close air support: guns, guns, guns!.

“only the beginning.”

Where has that spirit gone, America?

Don't hang around with the young doolie officer cadets much, do you? Though they can be arrogant in their ignorance, set records for repeating the same mistakes over and over, and blunder to such an extant that it's impossible for their instructors, advisors and observers who cannot help but laugh at them, despite best efforts at keeping a straight face. But I have seen enough sincerity, dedication, and old-fashioned gumption to have formed the impression that the military and country are in better hands on their watch- once they get some rough edges knocked off- than they ever were on my best day.

They may or may not be representative of their generation as a whole; that has always been the case. But I am damned highly impressed with what I've seen and heard, though I do still get a pretty good chuckle at times. Which I TRY to keep down to a grin, honest I do.

Nicely Done!

But-- IMO -- it's in dire need of some serous weathering (my favorite modeling task)... '-)

I agree arxhy. We have some unbelievably dedicated young people in the services...and their re-up rate to go and fight these ISlamic terrorists is high because they recognize the threat and understand that such evil must be put down hard. They are evey bit as evil and dangerous as the NAzis, or imperial Japanese, or the Stalinist/Communists and MOaists.

If they could get the resources they would assuredly bring the fight right to these shores in a HUGE way...and they are trying to do so every minute of every day.

We need leadership who understand this *amd I believe Trump does) and are willing to uneash hell on them through the willing and understanding that these young people have.

No...it’s not a majority as you say, but its there, and it would be enough if we would allow them to simply do their job.

Yes. Most of my models have some, which I add as I am building and painting the model.

But this model came pre-built and did not lend itself as well to my meager efforts in that regard.

Thanks for looking and pointing this out!

I was surprised today, the 75th anniversary of Doolittle's Raid to not see any posts commemorating it.

So doing a search, I saw yours about your model build and a very complete description of the raid.

Very well done on all accounts, Jeff!!
