The 25 Best Beaches In The US, Ranked

• TripAdvisor has released its 2017 Travelers' Choice Awards, naming the 25 best beaches in the US.
• Florida's Siesta Key Beach claims the title of America's best beach, followed by coastal stretches across the country in Hawaii, California, Georgia, and more.
• TripAdvisor also found the cheapest month to visit each beach destination, and the average rate for a hotel room there.

The world is full of gorgeous beaches, so it's easy to forget that the US has some spectacular beaches of its own — especially if you don't live along the coast.

TripAdvisor's 2017 Travelers' Choice Awards, which names the 25 best beaches in the country, serves as a reminder. The selected beaches — based on millions of reviews from travelers using the website between 2015 and 2016 — are sprinkled across the nation in places like Cape Cod and Honolulu.

TripAdvisor has also figured out the cheapest month of the year to travel to each destination, as well as the average cost of a night in a hotel, to help you organize a trip.

Here are the top-rated beaches to prompt your vacation planning:

Ocean Shitty made the list... makes the whole list not worth the paper it is printed on.

My favorite beaches are in NorCal and Oregon, none mentioned. Probably because it’s always cold. But the scenery and wildlife is spectacular and since there are not that many people at some of the beaches you can find some great shells in one piece.

What? No Dewey Beach in DE?

Honestly, not sure why something from Outer Banks was not included.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, that would easily make my list for the worst beach ever visited.

OBX beaches have been so highly ranked for so long that they appear to have changed the criteria. Doesn’t change my mind though, give me a beach on Hatteras Island or Ocracoke Island anytime. The water’s cool enough to be refreshing, neither cold nor bathwater, still have a subtropical climate, beautiful wide stretches of white sand and big dunes, not crowded at all, the roar of some of the biggest surf on the east coast and a nice steady wind. If you love a sort of primal quality that’s the place. If you want a nice calm puddle with baby waves and bathwater, you can go soundside on the same island, or go to Gulf beaches down in FL, AL, TX, etc. West coast is another story, love it but that’s no place to swim. Icewater even in southern California. Very beautiful, though.

These lists tend to be rather arbitrary.

I do like the “cheapest month to visit” feature. Race Point in January is freezing cold and Provincetown if it’s like other summer beach towns in Massachusetts will be dead, dead, dead - shuttered for the winter.

And then September is the cheapest time in Florida. A great bargain for hurricane enthusiasts.

I’ve been to most of the FL beaches. I would not put Ft Lauderdale or Miami on my list. I can’t believe they left Hilton Head off the list.

"Not one NC beach? You have to be kidding."

N.C. beaches = brown sand, water that definitely isn't clear. Have lived there and put up with it. Finally found my beach:

Panama City, FL beach, 35 miles ofclean sand and clear water...what's not to like?

“Northwest Florida has the best beaches in the world.”

We live in St. Pete Beach and have been all over FL, the east coast beaches from the Carolina’s to Maine, California, Hawaii, Mexico and the Carib.

We think your beaches up there right up with the best..great sand, good waves, great access. Awesome sunrises and sunsets.

I love the Destin to Panama City Beach stretch. Awesome, beautiful beaches.

Leaving in two weeks for our first trip to Hawaii. Looking forward to the beaches as well as a whole day at Pearl Harbor.
