There was a time when the Boy Scouts were allowed to spend the night on the USS Massachusetts. Not sure if that’s the case anymore.

My son was active in the Scouts at the time and we spent the weekend on the ship.

It was a memory that I will never forget.

Their called “Baby Factories” and are located everywhere but mostly in inner cities.

While the USS South Dakota was scrapped, parts of the ship including one of its 16” guns and a propeller are on display at the battleship South Dakota memorial in Sioux Falls, SD.
