Who remembers this?

I think this was around 1986 (or so)... when the nice rap was being taken over by the (future gansta rap) crap we see today..

This isn't bout rap, or any specific genre, but by users/people taking advantage of the 1st amendment.

I think many here know what I am talking about.. but I also think many here are too young to remember before rap was even invented :p

(not just about rap, but the degradation of not only music, but social norms in general).

That’s true, but it was also a passable rap effort.

Latecomers.

Chris Bouchillon is said by some to be the father of rap (sorry for the lousy sound quality):

Do you know the history of Los Dinos? (Americans of Mexican decent around about 1950-1960).. **((nothing to do with today’s situation))**

I actually knew Selena since she was about 14yo (she was murdered when she was about 23yo..). She couldn’t even speak Spanish.. well, she did learn a little. I spoke more than she did, and I didN7t know much :p I speak more Japanese now than Spanish, and probably better than my current English >.<

I agree.. That is when RAP was still music, brought in by a different culture of music... before it was infected with the crap of today :/

Still prefer classical and bluegrass though.. The “country” they play recently is awful >.<

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selena_y_Los_Dinos

Most of her recordings are quite valuable-one LP said to be mint sealed in shrink wrap, supposedly sold for $12,000 in 2015! I have my doubts about that, however.

I used to bump into Luther Campbell at the local Clubs in Miami, we were acquaintances. Mostly because of our shared fandom of the Miami Hurricanes football team. LOL @ how he corrupted those young men......

Oh man, listened to their other crap. It’s totally revolting.

I've waited to respond to this post... hoping that others would say something.. but they are either old timers, over 80 years old, ... , or yunguns,, about 5yo.. );^) At the time, I was in University.. it sas "cool". Thankfully I remember what my dad told me about common sense. He was one of the original Navy SEALs in 'nam.. I think he said there were only 43 before him.. and that they didn't even have a name yet. Also told me that it was a 3% pass rte. I had NO idea what the f$&%$ a SEAL was until I went into the military.. (on my FREEPER page).. He told me that they were known as "snake eaters" at the time (not in a nice meaning)... and they didn't have to use normal wear at the time (fatigues... BDUs when I was in military.. no idea what the panzy ass faggot military calls them now)... Hopefully Trump will clean and refresh.. .. .. :p

I have no clue about value of LPs (I did have rare of cccp that I loaned to a girl while in Uni, and I never saw her again.. and the vslue is in the thousands, last time I looked)...

But I DO know that she turned a local Tejano (popular in Texas only, at the time) into music that was VERY popular spreading from CAli to Texas down to Mexico, into international after she was murdered, all the way to Portugal and Spain.
