TIMBERLAKE, North Carolina -- Do you put pictures of your kids, pets, or adventures on social media? If you do, be careful as you never know who is watching.
Melina Efthimiadis along with her husband wanted to add personal umbrella liability insurance to their Nationwide homeowner's policy. She says they have been low risk clients so she didn't think it would be a problem.
In the application process for Nationwide, Melina says they had to write down the number of dogs they owned and their breeds, which are Shih Tzu/ Yorkie, a Hound and Hound/Lab mix.

Need a doggie ping please!!!
State Farm does not care what kind of dogs you have and they are very vocal about giving people freedom of pet choice.
That is good and I wonder how the other companies fare?
Why do people use social media. Who really wants to see your pictures. You can use email instead.
I think Farmers is okay, too but I am sticking with State Farm.
I would think all the insurance company has to do is clearly list the ineligible breeds in their policies and then deny payment in the event a claim is made involving an ineligible dog.
People who are members of pet forums love seeing other pets.
Simple as that.
This was a good story to post for two reasons;
#1. Advice: Don’t post every detail of your life online, go back and edit every so often.
#2. The womans’ last name may be Egyptian or Iranian. I need reminders like this that some Muslims DO assimilate and DO contribute positively to our society. I already knew that, but it’s good to see new evidence of it as well. I’m realistic, but I don’t like ‘throwing a blanket’ over an entire group. We are all Americans here.
They do list banned breeds.
She believes her dog is not mixed with any of those banned breeds.
Dog owners looking for insurance companies that don’t discriminate are encouraged to find independent agents and stay away from the smaller insurance companies, which tend to be skittish about insuring dog owners.
Insurers who currently do not discriminate by breed include:
State Farm
Chubb Group
Amica
I have heard others on my Dobermann forums say that Farmers is okay, too.
If they are indeed Muslim, they’ve totally run from their “religion”.
The most evil dog of all, to them, is a black dog.
We have an umbrella policy and I don’t remember any questions about dog breed. I think ours is with Progressive. We have a Weim, so the breed wouldn’t have been a problem anyway, however, a Weim killed a 2 year old a few years ago in south Florida. I wonder what the ineligible breeds are...we know Rottweiler, and Pits will be on the list, probably German Shepherds. Makes me wonder how many ineligible breeds there are?
Pit Bull Terriers
Staffordshire Terriers
Rottweilers
German Shepherds
Presa Canarios
Chows Chows
Doberman Pinschers
Akitas
Wolf-hybrids
Mastiffs
Cane Corsos
Great Danes
Alaskan Malamutes
Siberian Huskies
Yes, but, if you do not disclose your “danger dog” to them ahead of time, if you do have an issue, later, your policy will be voided.
When you consider that some scumbag might *sue* you because your good dog bit them while they were trying to rape you or break into your house, it’s better to be honest *and* choose a good insurance company.
There are some necessary steps to ensure Facebook doesn’t ruin your lives...
1) Adjust your privacy settings so only you and your “friends” can see your content.
2) If you post anything “controversial”, never, EVER, use your real or full name.
3) If anyone not friends or family ask, no, you don’t have any social media accounts.
