Sears, Kmart drop 31 Trump Home items from their online shops

Major U.S. retailers Sears and Kmart this week removed 31 Trump Home items from their online product offerings to focus on more profitable items, a spokesman said on Saturday.

The decision follows retailer Nordstrom Inc's announcement this week it had decided to stop carrying Ivanka Trump's apparel because of declining sales, prompting President Donald Trump to take to Twitter to defend his daughter. White House spokesman Sean Spicer characterized the Nordstrom move as a "direct attack" on the president's policies.

Neither Sears nor Kmart carried the Trump Home products in their retail stores, a Sears Holdings Corp spokesman said. Kmart is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings.

"As part of the company’s initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items," spokesman Brian Hanover said in a statement.

"Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week," he said, adding those items can be found through a third-party vendor, without providing additional information about the products.

The Trump Home collection includes lines of furniture, lighting, bedding, mirrors and chandeliers, some from makers who supply the items to Trump hotels, according to the collection's website.

Nordstrom's sales of Ivanka Trump's line of clothing and shoes fell by nearly one-third in the past fiscal year, with sharp drops in sales weeks before her father was elected president on Nov. 8, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

Our Kmart went Tango Uniform three months ago and was filled in by an antique and overstock dealer.

Sears and KMart? LOL. Mostly foreign made junk. We stopped shopping there decades ago.

Genius decisions like this have already put them on the road to extinction. Yet another nail, and hopefully the last in their coffins. Next...

We haven’t bought anything at Sears in over a decade, and have no K Mart stores in this area., so what is the point in this grand announcement from these has-been retailers?

The nearby Sears has resembled a Ghost Town for years. There are no more Customer Service agents to offer much help anymore. They always say ‘Go online. You may see something there.”

Some of the older clerks won’t (or can’t) help you order from the store’s computer. I had to ask a young lady in the jewelry dept. help me order some pants, after the older clerk said “We no longer order these products from the computers on the floor.” I knew that didn’t make sense, he was either too lazy or didn’t want to bother learning how to submit a Customer Order at the register. But I was not going to stand there arguing in that big quiet store. Since then, I have learned how to order on my own home laptop if I wish to.

The Trumps just need to set up their own online site.

Would make another fortune.

They are letting a terrific business opportunity slide by.

If they had any business sense at all they would pick up the Ivanka line that is being dropped by Nordstrom and others.

People are looking for a new source for her products and that line could bring in considerable new sales revenue.

Most existing Sears and K-Mart shoppers are not going to be so political that they will shop at higher priced stores if they see the stores still offer Trump labelled merchandise.

Is this the very same Sears, and Kmart which have had ot close some of their stores and are having a hard time making a profit?

Is it any wonder why liberals cannot grasp the basics in business. The put politics before profit

LOL!!

I can remember the days when getting the Sears catalog was the highlight of the year. Those days are gone.

They need to think about their customers, who they are. They may have many Trump voters among them. More so than fancy, high-end stores in NYC or LA.

Sears/KMart is on the verge of bankruptcy. The first KMart to ever open is one of the ones currently slated to be closed. There will be few of them left.

More people have said the names K-Mart and Sears today than during the past month — because of this news. LOL!

I’ve never been to SEARS in more than TEN years and so’s the same with KMART.

The last time I was at Kmart was in the early 2000’s, 2008 I think. Not even a loss for me to boycott.

Given that libs won’t shop with the masses at Sears or K-Mart,

Haven’t seen too many ‘masses’ at our local Sears Grand for some time now. Sales staff nearly always outnumber customers.

Hoses are considered a tool. I have 2 50 foot rubber hoses that I bought from Sears just so I would never have to buy a hose again.

That is probably gone.

Didn’t SEARS just sell their Craftsman line to Black and Decker?

Yes, and Sears is about to go under anyway. KMart here is a waste of time as well.

Curious as to why Sears, which had one of the most serious, as well competent catalogue marketing operations going never did put that base to work for them online as say did Amazon whom started from nothing.

I believe there are Sears people having regrets these days.
