USA TODAY reports that downsizing at various Kelloggs facilities across the country could put 1,110 Americans out of work.
Kelloggs spokesperson Kris Charles said the cereal giant will shift away from direct delivery of its foods to stores, and will instead utilize grocers distribution centers. The move will shutter 39 Kelloggs distribution centers from Maryland to Ohio to New York.
While this is the right move for the company to achieve our long-term objectives, it was a difficult decision because of its impact on employees, company spokesperson Kris Charles said, according to CNYCentral.
Charles says each site outfits roughly 30 full-time employees, which means the company could lay off as many as 1,170 workers.
The closures will not have a sizable impact on any one community, Charles added.
The move is part of the Michigan-based companys cost-cutting initiative, Project K, launched in 2013. Kelloggs reported a loss of $53 million in the fourth quarter, CNBC reports.

Sales down a bit there, Kellogg’s?
I specifically avoid your products now.
Shock! Your suggestion is worth a Matt Drudge Whirling Siren. I may have to try that.
Post bought MOM Brands and their cereal is just as good (if not better) and half the price. Larger boxes, less packaging and hopefully less political BS.
We started buying Kroger brand cereal after the boycott of General Mills began. Tastes and looks the same and is at least half the cost of same size name brands. If Kroger is out of stock, we only buy Post.
I miss Buddy Ebsen.
Seems to me as if General Mills was the company that is on our boycott list.
Have you tried the Chia seed pudding diet?
Apparently eating 2 heaping Tbs. Chia seeds (hydrated into a pudding) eaten daily can cause a person to lose up to 2 lbs. a day.
No.
I have the opposite problem, I need to put on weight.
Kellogg’s also own Keebler brands which is a huge snack company.
Bought Kellogg’s Corn Flakes several months back on a 2-1 deal at Walmart. They were so sugary, never gonna do it again. This was before the Breitbart announcement of what they were doing.
I miss Post Toasties, though - from some time ago.
I love, love, love cereal but quit eating it years ago because of the calories, carbs and hidden sugar. It’s a shame because I was hooked on Post Crunchy Pecan.
They wouldn't have to deny it if it wasn't true.
Kellogs owns Morning Star Farms, Pringles, Kashi, Chez its, Eggo and Nutri Grain. Somewhere even if you try, you are probably buying one of their products.
They recently came out with an Oreo O’s type cereal called Cookies and Cream. I picked up four bags recently since they missed the old Oreo O’s. They taste just like them.
The looney left has thrown in their lot with the muzzis to take this country down.Domestic enemies all.
