Dad of brain-damaged toddler shot in the head with air gun will 'never forgive'

Harry Studley's family say a long-term prognosis is unknown as the bullet is resting against a blood vessel and cannot be removed.

The mother of a baby shot in the head with an air rifle says her heart "shattered into a million pieces" when she realised what had happened.

Two-year-old Harry Studley was taken to hospital for emergency surgery following the shooting last July.

His family say they do not know what Harry's long-term prognosis is because the bullet cannot be removed from his head as it rests against a blood vessel.

His mother Amy Allen told Sky News: "At first I was completely heartbroken when it happened.

Ms Allen was at a friend's house when the incident happened last summer.

Jordan Walters, 24, who has pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, was cleaning his air rifle and fired it, not realising it was loaded.

His partner, Emma Horseman, 24, was found not guilty at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday.

They could do that thing where they lower the body temperature, stop the heart so no blood is pumping, pull the bullet out, repair the blood vessel and hit the On switch. The lady who they did that for previously had an aneurysm and they fixed it. Plus she got the benefit of going to heaven for a little while.

a baby shot in the head with an air rifle

If the baby was shot in the head, why did the 2 year old need to go to the hospital?

They have socialized medicine in Britain. Don’t expect cutting edge medical care for the Proles.

Terrible story, these people need Jesus or they won’t make it.

Forgiveness is the only way for peace. It will destroy their lives otherwise.

If the bullet doesn’t do fatal damage due to that artery issue, the prognosis could be remarkably good. According to
The Mind and the Brain:
Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force
by Jeffrey M. Schwartz and Sharon Begley
there is a case on record of a child losing half of her brain and still coming out normal years later.

A fascinating book.

Older forms of English called children “babies” and “infants” until they were 6 or 7ish years old. If you read old accounts and diaries from 300 years ago, it’s weird to have them talking about a baby or infant and suddenly they mention that it’s actually a 6 year old. I’m guessing they do something similar in England, although maybe not to as old of an age.

Some shoot bullet shaped pellets. My brother shot jack rabbits with a high power pellet gun. It kills them.

Aren’t there .22 caliber air rifles?

Yeah, some of them are. We had one when I was a kid and it was very powerful with a single break-barrel cocking mechanism.

Grade schools in Britain are still called ‘infant school’.

17 cal up to 50 cal, many people hunt small and large game with them. Mine is a 22 cal capable of 1000 fps with a 15 grain pellet and is very accurate. I’ve shot jackrabbit’s, cottontails, raccoons and even small feral hogs with it. Larger game have been taken with the 357, 45 and 50 calibers. I’ve seen cow elk, axis deer and 200 +lb hogs taken with them. Lewis and Clark carried an air rifle. My little RWS Diana model 48 with the T06 trigger will put 10 rounds inside a dime at 25 yards. These ain’t cheap little old bb guns, they’re precision shooters. I believe I gave just under 450 dollars for the rifle and have another 250 in the scope and 25 dollars in the heavier piston spring. No doubt a head shot at close range could kill a person. let me also add that they are not quiet and many people have put suppressors on them.
