A BABY dolphin has died after it was kept out of the water so a mob of tourists could take selfies with it. The tourists dragged the tiny mammal out of the water on Sunday in the seaside city of San Bernardo, south of Buenos Aires, Argentine newspaper La Capital reported. The suffering calf died surrounded by a crowd of people trying to touch it and take selfies with it.

people just can’t keep their hands off of things. I hate it when people mess with my dogs or my horses, especially the young ones. I have had some serious behavioral issues to deal with in young horses from people messing with them not knowing what they are doing. Everyone is a stinking expert.

I had an extremely hot Arabian horse many years ago. He was very, very sweet, but also very, very spooky (and he enjoyed purposely stepping on human feet!). I never let anyone into his stall except his trainer and those who knew him well. I switched to a barn closer to me, left explicit instructions that no one was to enter his stall. One day I came out to find a complete stranger in the stall with him, crooning into his ear, feeding him apples and carrots. I gently removed her from the stall (she kept asking what right I had to do so), took her outside, and unloaded on her. Told her if I ever caught her near my horse again, I’d have her arrested. She was lucky she wasn’t hurt. She looked at me with ENORMOUS eyes and said, “But he was calling to me! I could feel him talking to me in my spirit!” Yep...animal rights activist. She was really lucky she wasn’t hurt. My horse was a sweetheart (he later was gentle enough to be a school horse for kids!), but at that time in his life, he was too hot for many people to handle. I still marvel.

Yup. When I was young in the early 80’s I worked on an Arabian horse farm. Hard but rewarding. The horse were very, expensive and I was told NEVER ride any of those belonging to the owner (one stallion was $100K+) I NEVER EVER did and respected that. Just being around them was good enough as they were beautiful.

Some of the horses being boarded was another story. I was supposed to exercise some of them. A few were owned by spoiled little rich girls and were difficult to manage unlike the owner’s horses that were well behaved. Most days...those girls would call ahead of arriving, want their horse tacked up and ready to ride. They’d run the crap out of those poor creatures until they were soaked with sweat and then....as you can guess....handed the fully tacked animal back to me and drive off. It was very, sad to see.

Almost any time one of those girls tried to catch their own horse it was impossible and I...the one who fed and groomed it....was only one who could catch it. Normally they’d trot, or canter, right up to me thinking MEALTIME!

Honestly? I’d feel as if I betrayed the poor thing doing so just to let it get ridden into the ground again. Of course, those little girls really thought they were the most amazing horsewomen around, but I know better.

The owner also asked I keep people from giving “treats” to any of the horses. Often parents would hand sugar cubes to their children to feed the horses. I was the “evil witch” who did not allow that. Not even apples were allowed from a stranger. Of course I understood why, but most folks have no clue.

I hope they cooked it immediately, and didn't waste any. Dolphin is delicious, and baby dolphin is to die for...

The only tragedy is if any of that went to waste. /s

Same thing with my dogs. They are cow dogs, so when someone bends over to look at them, they seem like a cow that is dropping its head to challenge them. The dogs react and freak the person out. They haven’t a clue what they are doing.

“left explicit instructions that no one was to enter his stall”

Oh, here’s another horse story from my days working and living at the Arabian training/breeding farm.

I sometimes groomed the horses in the stall which was just my being lazy. There were 12 stallions and about 20 mares, so rather than walking each to the cross tie area and back I’d groom in the stall. The horses like me as their carer, so I wasn’t worried.

Well, one day I was grooming Tiger. A lovely bay with a sweet disposition. There were electric wires running across the walls between the stallions in their area for obvious reason...so they wouldn’t tear the walls down and kill one another! So. I’m in there grooming Tiger and the stallion in the stall next to us was raising holy heck. Like a moron, and with Tiger’s halter in my hand, I smack the wall as if that would shut up the stallion on the other side.

Yeah, you guessed it. Shocked the crap out of myself AND out of Tiger who took to running in tight circles in a panic within that closed stall. Fortunately for me I was able to dive into the corner and didn’t get trample. when he calmed down he stood there and stared at me with the whites of his eyes showing all around. Mine were probably doing the same.

I guess you can tell that was the LAST time I ever groomed a horse in the stall :)

I’m breathing fast just reading that!!!

I know I’m veering off a little from the main topic here (please forgive), but I had a “near trample” experience myself that I still can’t quite believe. My horse was no dummy. When we let him out to graze with the other horses, he always went to the FAAAAAAAR end of the field, I guess thinking he wouldn’t get caught that way. I had to routinely walk through the herd to get to him. One day, I got into the middle of the field, horses all around, and a hot air balloon went by overhead with that sound they make. The horses all stampeded right towards me and I had NO WHERE to hide — I was in the middle of an open field! I KNOW it must have been the Lord because when they got to me, I thought I was dead, and they veered around me on BOTH sides, and not one touched me! And these babies were panicked in the extreme, so it’s not like they were thinking of not killing me! I thank the Lord to this day for that! I just remember an almost calm, resigned feeling of “I’m dead.”

Actually it’s mammal and a very intelligent one. I certainly wouldn’t put it in the same category as a minnow.

I’d heard that every time someone takes a selfie, God kills a kitten. Now dolphin bambinos, too?!?

Definitely intelligent and probably terrified for the last minutes of its life. But, hey, jerks have to get their selfies, right?
