I have Cavaliers and a Golden. The Golden is a big goof. The Cavs are sly smart, they just act dumb, the little flirts.

59. Maltese terrier

Based on my experience, this is a little high. He's sweet, but he's stupid. :)

Afghans are dumber than posts. I had an Afghan and a Dachshund and the wiener dog, no brainiac, ran rings around the Afghan.

They actually do have that option, but its a VERY risky procedure, even for young pups..involves making an incision in the neck and inserting a ring to open up the trachea..and the dog cant bark for 2 weeks after wards, also high risk of aspiration pneumonia from eating..so now its out of the question he would not survive it

7. Labrador Retriever

7 is the number of perfection.

Have had 4 Labs. 2 were Black. 2 were Yellow.

Don’t confuse boundless energy, playfulness, and sometimes laugh out loud silliness with being dumb.

Labs are scary smart and intuitive.

Brings a tear to my eye thinking of them.

The smartest dog I’ve ever seen and witnessed is my girlfriend’s late Bluetick Heeler. Smart as a Whip She was.

Otherwise he’s PERFECT..runs, plays, eats, just sometimes he coughs, you can also blame it on the cold weather, cold weather for dogs with this problem makes it MUCH worse

Lived with a poodle and later a Weimaraner. Agree with the poodle rating, but not the Weimaraner. That dog was dumb, but lovable.

Aussies (Australian Shepherds) not on list? Or are they considered a subset of Border Collies? The distinction between BCs and Aussies that I once read is: The BCs will work until they drop while the Aussies hang right in there but like to clock out at 5. :-)

Australian Cattle Dogs and Aussies don’t look alike - well 4 legs, 2 ears etc.

They called all tiers working dogs when the last 3-3.5 tiers were hunting dogs etc. Oh well, shrinks not AKC judges.

My half German Shepherd/Golden Retriever (also half the size of both breeds) also barks at dogs on TV (I look at this as a sign of intelligence), at the same time leaping 3 feet in the air. If you say dog he will turn and check the screen, he also barks at any animal with 4 legs. People are all good to him.

I’ve had ‘bout 6-7 Shelties. Currently 2 run the house now. They are smart and love to R U N ! Loyalty is beyond measure. My wife has been instructed to bury me WITH them all on the mountain side. Mrs. Snooter claims this to be illegal in North Carolina . . . I’m still lookin’ for ways around the law that she would be ok with. Any ideas ?!?

Snoot ;o)
