“A Dog’s Purpose” -- the upcoming major motion picture based on the best-selling novel by W. Bruce Cameron -- is set to open later this month, but new footage obtained by TMZ may give animal lovers pause about going to see it.
The exclusive video shows an animal trainer forcing a terrified German shepherd dog into a pool of raging water, while the animal tries desperately to escape. It’s a chilling behind-the-scenes look at the filmmakers’ attempt to recreate a scene from the book, in which a police K-9 named Ellie rescues someone from a rushing river.

Someone should have thrown the “trainer” in.
I really wanted to see that. It looked good.

My first thought was that they were showing the way K9 or military dogs are trained, and I didn’t necessarily have a problem with that.
Showing how men are trained in USMC boot camp in a time of war probably seems inhumane to people, but that is how men are trained to handle the stress of combat (in as much as that can actually be done in any way in advance of the real thing)
The article sounds like they used regular dogs to do the filming, and I disagree with that.
That article should give any animal lover paws.
On a historic side note, when the Humane Society was originally formed it covered cruelty to Women, Children and Animals.

The media has lied so often, I can’t take anything they say at face value, even a story like this. Is it real? What’s the motivation? The MSM has become the proverbial boy-who-cried-wolf. Zero credibility.
Not sure if real news or if CBS thinks the producer of the movie voted for Trump.

Later on, it looks like the dog went under, and it took some time to rescue him. It could've been handled better. German Shepards are smart. That dog (or one more willing) could've been taught to accept the water if the trainer had worked with him in some conditioning lessons where they both worked in the water together prior to the filming. A good trainer wouldn't have to resort to throwing the dog in the water.

Stupid. If they had a few people jump in the water and through a ball around, they wouldn’t have been able to keep the dog out of the water.

Maybe not handled the best way....but, of course we only get a few edited seconds. Also, you ever watch a groomer try and get a non-compliant dog into a bathing tub.
This may be something, but anybody who’s spent a day rescuing dogs from a mill, knows what real cruelty is.
It’s OK if Hollywood does it. Just like the actors who enable rampant pedophilia...and not say one thing about it. They’re so courageous.
