Priggery! LOL! I'll be using that in a sentence tomorrow.
Didn’t read it like 95% of FReepers - but thanks.
If so, it’s great news.
This legislation will bring out all the anti gun nuts. The hysteria that will be published/broadcasted as this bill advances will be comical. I remember when the state I was living in at time passed CCW. The local rag had a huge front page article on how the blood will run in the streets and cast this dismal looking forecast of a return the wild west. CNN, the NYT etc. will be filled with emotional articles from “experts” decrying suppressors as the tools of evil assassins.
I’m sure it will - too bad the anti gun zealots don’t have the numbers to do anything about it.
I’m waiting for the SPLC to come out with fudged “stats” a month or so into Trump’s Presidency about escalating crime.
“according to a briefing paper by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which is based in Newtown, Conn.,”
They HAVE to now say where these people are now, just to ping that part of the liberal brain.
the NSSF is full of the nicest people.
I’ve wanted a Delisle Carbine for the longest time.
After all these years of misspelling,A NEW FAVORITE WORD!!!
It’s so ... beautiful!
As long as you never use clip for magazine—that’ll kill ya.
What many dont realize is a silenced weapon also requires sub-sonic ammo to be silent>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Exactly. Low velocity ammunition causes all sorts of other issues. The recoil ampening springs on the slides or magazine blocks have to be weaker. The gun often runs dirtier.
Also a suppressor collects heat and can melt down quickly.
The accuracy and range are effected by the sub sonic loads.
Supressors are a specialty application item, period. Yet anyone can learn about how to use rhem.
I do not feel that they are for the casual shooter who may not know the various issues involved. Knowledge needs to be transferred along with a suppressor.
I’ve owned a suppressor and several machineguns since the early 90’s.ATF has never dropped by in all that time.
“Silencers are also marketed as must-have attachments for high-powered rifles a tactical necessity that reduces recoil, thus improving aim.”
Really?????
news to me.
“You guys really want the ATF to visit your homes unannounced just to have these?”
How and why would the fascist ATF have access to your home if you bought a silencer?
Well, a suppressor by any other name is still a suppressor.
It took @ 11 months to get my Yankee Hill suppressor and only @ 6 months for my SBR. I use the suppressor with my 300 BO and .308 SASS sniper set up.
One thing I did was take my approved stamps to a Kinkos and get both copied and shrunk down and laminated into multiple copies that I keep with the gun and my pickup. You never know when you might get challenged to prove legal possession.
MFO
Where do these dumbasses come from? High Powered Rifle and a scary semi-automatic .22LR in the same sentence. The .22 was probably running 710FPS subsonic. Yeah, then it's pretty silent but it's also on the diametric opposite end of the spectrum from HIGH POWERED!! Sheesh, these idiots.
Whatever a "high-powered" rifle is, it ain't "high-powered" anymore if it's running the projectile below 1125fps.
And am I mistaken, or are they trying to call a .22LR "high-powered"?
Homey may have named it a "silencer", but even my NEF Handi BLK with sub 180's and Specwar ain't all that "silent". There's always some noise.
Methinks he may have chosen the name more for marketing than accuracy.
The stupid always gets thick in firearm articles & threads. d:^)
Thanks for the confirmation - guess I’m a noob on class III items after all.
I really want an SBR bad.
