Dozens of dogs greeted visitors at a local brewery Friday after they were rescued from an illegal meat trade in Thailand.
The event, called Suds for Soi Dogs was held at Mission Brewery featuring 17 of 30 dogs recently rescued and brought to the United States.
It was a fundraiser to raise money by El Cajon-based The Barking Lot and the Soi Dog Foundation to help care for the dogs and rescue others. Another 1,200 dogs are still at a shelter in Thailand.
It costs $250 to bring each dog to the U.S., which doesn't include the cost associated with caring for them.

Actually most of the dogs at the humane society around here come from Mexico and Central America.
We have done a remarkable job of reducing strays and unwanted dogs here in the US, so we bring in immigrant dogs. This is so the shelters will stay relevant and their directors and employees will still have jobs.
Much like what happened when the refugee resettlement centers in the US, developed to resettle the Vietnam war refugees in the 80’s and 90’s, ran out of refugees. They went and found Somalis and other Moslims to bring into the country. Kept the centers open and the directors in jobs.
That actually makes sense, from a human nature perspective.
Why not bring in Estonians, or Serbs?
Abortion remains legal in our culture. Many who would tout the virtues of vegetarianism or environmentalism support the ruthless slaughter of innocent children in the womb.
Pray for America’s righteousness to be restored.
While 30 dogs are rescued several hundred child sex slaves contracted HIV in Thailand.
Obama ate dog, and liked it.
Ewe. Dog food smells so bad, I imagine dog meat would taste just as bad. That, and all the expensive medications and insecticides people put in to their pet dogs.... eating dog is just not a consideration.
Send them our beefy socialists.

I have a dog from Taiwan and I guarantee you the requirements are stringent to come into the US.
Every blood borne disease known is tested for and must be negative before they can come. Among other things.
