Video Shows Rabid Bobcat Attacking Florida Wildlife Officer
NBC Miami ^ | 1/4

Posted on 01/05/2017 3:38:20 PM PST by nickcarraway

A frightening encounter between a rabid bobcat and Florida Wildlife Officers was captured on camera.

Last week, the bobcat got into a North Port home from through an open front door and would not leave.

FWC was called to the scene.

Officers used a catchpole to try to get the animal out of the family's back porch, but it became aggressive and scratched one of the officers.

The feline was eventually removed and later euthanized. Officials said the bobcat tested positive for rabies.

Another bobcat attack took place nearby the home the same week.

A rabies alert is in effect for the area for 60 days.

The post exposure treatment is no longer the pain the older regimen was. The human diploid vaccine is with much less volume and only six vaccinations that one can take in the arm with little discomfort. I have had both regimens, the duck egg embryo series was one of the most painful post exposure treatments I ever had and the second time was a cakewalk compared. Needless to say, I have quite a titer to rabies.

Question..... Wasn’t there a person about 30 years ago that survived rabies..???

I think it was around 30 years ago that I read about a Mexican boy surviving rabies. They treated him in an oxygen chamber. I think it was also under pressure.

One survived about ten years ago and fully recovered but the treatment hasn't been replicated. A survivor from 30 years ago had severe brain impairment.

It’s too bad the rabid bobcat was euthanized. They should have put it in the in the cell with the four Chicago thugs.

He probably already had the shots as part of his job since there is a rather high likely hood that most nuisance wildlife calls will involve animals that are presumed to be rabid.

We are in the 21st century now.

Don't be talking bad about those Jewish preachers.

The bobcats in this part of town tend to be a good bit bigger. http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/collin-county/plano-mans-dog-falls-victim-to-uptick-in-bobcat-activity/33491751

The one in the video wasn’t much bigger than a Texas alley cat.

How long am I good for, really?

When it comes to needles, I am a wuss....

Had a cabinet fall on my hand and it required stitches.
The Corpsman was setting me up and said he was going to deaden the area with Novocaine and I got a count of how many insertions for the stitches and how much Novocaine.
I declined the Novocaine and the Corpsmen said
“Even Marines take their shots”
I said something along the lines of Marines etc and he started stitching. When he finished he sat back and admired his work before cinching it.
He forgot to tie a knot and I had to go through it again AFTER receiving the Novocaine shots.
Apparently the Corpsman was on loan to the Base Clinic.

SO, now I figure if I get rabies I will make up a list of people I want to bite....

The gubmint morons delayed my shots until literally the 11th hour of the last possible day.

I had a list...and I made sure to mention it, often.

The average is a good titer for around five years. A booster every five years should get an adequate anamestic response. I get a booster every five years.

Dangit.

I just passed 5 years.

Insurance won’t cover a booster unless I wrestle more rabid coons.

:-\

Thanks for answering!

:)

The vaccine costs $200 out of pocket. I cannot afford not to have a good titer.
