Flash and Video Download
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/download-flash-and-video/?src=api

Flash Video Downloader
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/artur-dubovoy/?src=api

I also use Video DownloadHelper

After installing to Firefox you right click on the grey area by the address field and click on Navigation Toolbar and Menu Bar and Add-on Bar (bottom of screen)

Right click on the grey area by the address field and click on Customize
Now drag the Video add on’s to the bottom of the screen so the top does get so crowded.

I also like “Classic Theme Restorer” add-on. Gives back the look of Firefox instead of it looking like Chrome.

There are two methods.

Get on any website, start the video up, use VIDEO DOWNLOADHELPER to start downloading the file. Stop the video playing. Go find the next video you want to download and repeat the above.

The other method is to use the DOWNLOAD option on the website (if it has one. Most movie sites do.)

Either way, VLC is used to play the video after it is downloaded. You are correct, it doesn’t have the ability to download a file.

but since you can’t download from youtube anymore, ‘houston, we have a problem . . ‘

I see. CHROME also has an extension called VIDEO DOWNLOADHELPER. It should help with everything except YOUTUBE. (I didn't know they had disabled downloading).

I use Clipgrab or flash video downloader with Firefox and then play them on a 55” TV with VLC.

The VLC problem is from the last upgrade. Back up to version 223 and you can play the mp4, m4v, ect files that have quit playing on the new VLC.

You can use Real Downloader if you use Windows Internet Explorer. It won’t work on Firefox and others. You can use Free Studio to download from YouTube on any browser. make sure you have version 223 for VLC or it won’t play newer files. I had to back up from version 224 back to 223 and don’t accept anymore upgrades.

He’s talking about downloading the video to his hard drive to keep it or send it. You may want to watch it off line.

My laptop died. can no longer access any of my video files.

If the problem isn't with your hard drive on your laptop, you can always remove the hard drive from your laptop and hook it up to your main computer via USB. That way you can access all of your files and won't have to go through re-downloading them.

Connect laptop drive to PC

I have “mint” on a usb drive and can boot to it and see the hard drive from there. That way you don’t have to have a bunch of adapters. If the MB is bad you can remove the drive and put it into a desktop SATA connection. Even if the drive is messed up and can’t boot, you can still usually find the video files and other docs and offload them from the mint usb as long as the drive spins.
