A family source said that Glenn was in declining health, that his condition was grave, and that Annie Glenn and his children and grandchildren had joined him at the hospital.

He sold his soul a long time before that when he jumped on the GUN CONTROL band wagon and ran with it throughout his term as a Senator. He was a great astronaut but a total SPACE CASE when it came to the Second Amendment.
He was one of my heroes as a kid, but like McCain, he turned traitor.
I hope he finds peace, but there is no reason not to be honest about his life.
You should make the distinction that the time to go after him was then
I did. I lived in Ohio during part of his disgraceful tenure in the Senate, and voted against him at every opportunity.
I'm a bit curious as to why you want to disregard his voting record. Perhaps you agree with it?

Young of Ohio in the 1964 Democratic primary election. In 1964 Glenn announced that he was resigning from the space program to run against Young, but withdrew when he hit his head on a bathtub. He observed that the hearings so far had focused on issues like coffees at the White House with President Clinton and said the public had not been ‘’fooled by this diversion from the real issue, which is that quid pro quos for political money happen here on Capitol Hill every day.’’
The real problem, Senator Glenn said, involves matters like the Republican Party’s close relationship with the tobacco industry and the National Rifle Association and Republican plans to filibuster against legislation that would change campaign finance laws.
Senator Fred Thompson, the Tennessee Republican who heads the panel, the Governmental Affairs Committee, had sought a bipartisan tone for this latest phase of the hearings. He was clearly taken aback by Senator Glenn’s statement.
His voice filled with sarcasm, Senator Thompson responded, ‘’Well, I guess we know now that this scandal we’ve been dealing with for the last several months is essentially a Republican scandal.’’
Senator Pete V. Domenici, Republican of New Mexico, also expressed irritation with Senator Glenn. ‘’Without bipartisanship,’’ he said, ‘’there will be no reform.’’”

Glenn used his American Hero status to provide cover to the Clintons’ corruption. Without him providing a shield, we might have been spared Hillary’s time in the Senate, times as Secretary of State, and two runs for President.
Benedict Arnold was a hero - until he wasn’t.
As with “Duke” Cunningham I will salute his service for our country rather than condemn his failings in Congress.

He was not the first man to orbit the earth, that was Yuri Gagarin.
Not the most dramatic thing he did, but my favorite thing he did was a coast to coast flight in an F-8 Crusader. Afterburner the whole way except 3 refueling. 3 hours and 23 minutes.
That was back in the days when a civilian would still be a chance to hear sonic booms.
If you mean Mr. Cunningham, I referred to his conviction for selling his office while in Congress.
If he had helped get rid of the Clinton’s back in the 1990’s think of all the people who would still be alive today.
Everyone dies. If they are lucky it is from old age.
John Glenn has been worthless to me since the Keating Five.
His accomplishments as an astronaut were not a license to commit crimes, nor did they make his politics any more palatable.
He leaves behind an ambiguous legacy, even after his military and NASA service. He turned into a politically hack who cravenly prostrated himself for a return to space.
I meant Mr. Glenn ... as of this moment, to the best of my knowledge, he’s still alive.

And he was an a$$hole.
He was my hero...meeting him (several times) was a disappointment I met his family...he was good to his wife, most important thing. She was sweet.
He was not popular among the other astronauts.
