Not a fire alarm siren entry but on the right column. Pretty depressing. I guess Drudge got some leaked figures from the CDC or Census.

US life expectancy has been increasing by
3 months each year for decades.

NOTHING keeps going up like that. NOTHING.

Likely skewed figures due to explosion of Third World residents imported into the US. Also related to declining standard of living.

... and HillaryCARE, RomneyCARE, and ObamaCARE
were designed to remove care from doctors and nurses
to accountants. So it HAD to fall.

I’m an ER nurse. Most of my days are spent dealing with the consequences of smoking, drinking, and illicit drugs. Smoking more than drinking and drugs combined probably.

I know a lot of people who now try to avoid all doctors if possible. They have insurance, but the care is too expensive, so they stay home and just hope problems don’t get bad. A decline in life expectancy is no surprise to me.

Considering the obesity I see almost every where I go, it’s small wonder.

I also figured that the influx of immigrants has something to do with the stats.

I suspect the real glitch up in the stats is from opiate overdose, which is skyrocketing.

There is a clear progression of prescription opiate addiction leading to a cutoff in their drug supply, and black market pills are far more expensive than most can afford. So they turn to heroin, at a quarter of the price and readily available.

But now there is an evil and murderous twist, far worse than just heroin addiction. The synthetic opiates Fentanyl (100 times stronger than pure morphine) and Carfentanil (10,000 times stronger than pure morphine), are being added to heroin to boost its strength.

And both synthetics are far cheaper to make than heroin, and much easier to smuggle. And a lethal dose of Carfentanil is measured in micrograms.

It is impossible for an average person to tell if their heroin has been doped, so a single bad batch can kill hundreds of junkies.

Self administered natural selection.

Not everyone wants to live to 90 and be confined for the 10 years prior.

That describes me up to a point.

I will go to a quack if it’s something I can’t handle or big time unusual.

IMO, carbs and sugar from processed food consumed as encouraged by the FDA Food Pyramid and anti-fat messaging has led to widespread obesity and increased metabolic problems. You add other complicating factors like sedentary life style, smoking or drinking and you will in all likelihood end up with heart issues or a stroke.

Not everyone wants to live to 90 and be confined for the 10 years prior.

My stepfather lived to the age of 88 and was active every day of his life. He lived alone without any assistance. His friend, who usually checked up on him every day, found him dead on the floor one day of an apparent heart attack.

If you eat right, exercise, and generally live a healthy life, you can be like my Dad--keep going strong until the end just sneaks up on you without warning.

Living longer doesn't necessarily mean living for years in a debilitated state.

Agreed. I have mixed feelings about much of modern medicine, but I think individuals have to make their own choices.

Things I find “curious” though — women used to be told to get breast cancer screenings early and often. It was important! Then after Obamacare was passed, women were told that screenings didn’t help all that much and should not be done until much later in life. To me, this was an obvious cost-saving move which was going to cost lives.

I’ve noticed other things too over the past few years. Medical guidelines have shifted so that people are encouraged to save money and shoulder some level of additional risk.

Whether this is good or bad, justified or unjustified is a separate issue. To me, it is obviously part of Obamacare and a lowering of our standard of living.

This wasn’t supposed to happen under obamacare. Health was supposed to get better, not worse!

A person i know just dropped dead on thanksgiving ....heart attack right in front of everyone...he didnt smoke was (on the surface healthy) ate like an ordinary person....”life expectancy”...where is it written that we are going to live this long because? Way to many factors are involved , I think the biggest is how people handle stress. I am considered by most to be a complete hardcore as____e , but i look upon it as being upfront and not suppressing emotions...to many just bite their tongue and push it down inside and that eats away at person...also if you don’t go into debt (stress related)or follow the status quo along with having the attitude of screw you thats not in my best interest helps. Don’t get me wrong I am not a selfish person and I go out of my way to help others when I can , also I am constantly amazed at how beautiful and intricate this planet and whats on it is...i am never bored and I enjoy mundane tasks such as shoveling snow.....cleaning etc....I just think back at how it used to be done and am grateful that we have such a great REPUBLIC...keeps me alive and I refuse to die of natural causes until i reach at least 95-98...I want to piss off as many liberals as I can with the time I alot to myself...GOALS got to have GOALS. IMHO

Exactly right. Diet is everything when it comes to health. The massive consumption of carbohydrates, ever increasing in the 20th and 21st centuries, has led to an explosion of hitherto relatively uncommon metabolic and inflammatory diseases. These include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, obesity, allergies, Crohns disease, etc etc etc.

The best course would be for all of us to go back to real, unprocessed food with fats and protein as the main constituents. We evolved as hunters, not grazing animals.

Yes. Results of Obamacare. The big lie is that people’s health will be improved if they have health insurance. That was the presumption behind the wringing of hands that 49 million were uninsured.

Well, health insurance is really medical care insurance, not health insurance. And it has almost no correlation with the amount or quality of medical care a person receives. eg, Veterans with total coverage receive some of the worst quantity and quality care, but only when they depend on VA facilities.

Health is determined by parentage. If your biological parents were on tobacco/alcohol/drugs-TAD when you were conceived it impacts your health. If your pregnant mom used TAD or had other bad lifestyle, it impacts your health. If your childhood diet, exercise, etc was part of a bad lifestyle it impacts your health. If your adult lifestyle makes bad choices it impacts your health.

According to some doctors, the 3d leading cause of death is mistakes by healthcare workers. Based on that, we should avoid health care workers.

IBM Watson Health released a blurb. If it comes from IBM Watson Health, the smartest computer in the world, then we should believe it, right?

Wrong. The Watson blurb claimed flu vaccine is cost effective. But an accurate look at the facts reveals that in the population Watson studied, avoiding the flu vaccine gives you slightly better odds of avoiding subsequent flue disease and treatment for the flu.

As health reform is not up in the air, watch for every lobbyist and special interest (on both the right and left) to sling bogus statistics around to prove that they deserve a special place in the new health care reform.
