More Hotels Are Checking Out of The Bible Business

More Hotels Are Checking Out of The Bible Business Moxy Berlin Hotel opening party

The Moxy Berlin Hotel opened in October. Marriott International has recently decided that no religious materials should be offered at Moxy and Edition hotels, two of its newest millennial-oriented hotel brands.

When the ultra-hip Moxy Hotel opens in San Diego next year, the rooms will be stocked with the usual amenities — an alarm clock, hair dryer, writing desk and flat-screen TV.

But you won’t find a Bible in the bedside nightstand.

Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel company, supplies a Bible and the Book of Mormon in the rooms of every other hotel in the franchise. But the company has recently decided that no religious materials should be offered at two of its newest millennial-oriented hotel brands, Moxy and Edition hotels.

“It’s because the religious books don’t fit the personality of the brands,” said Marriott spokeswoman Felicia Farrar McLemore, explaining that the Moxy and Edition hotels are geared toward fun-loving millennials.

It won’t be long before CAIR forces them to put Korans in the rooms OR ELSE.

Always wondered why they were there in the first place. Not knocking religion...but why??

No need for paper bibles or phone books in hotel rooms anymore.

Just a personal observation - I’ve spent far more time reading the Bible in hotel rooms on business trips after finding it in the nightstand than I ever have elsewhere.

It began when Evangelical Christian organizations began to put Bibles in hotels for free.

Yeah. Never understood the Bible thing in Hotels. I never looked at it. Most people of faith have their own Bible. It always struck me as weird especially since they use the King James Edition which many religions don’t follow. I’d rather they use the Catholic edition....of course I do. lol.

And they will be ignored like the Bibles. No difference.

That was The Gideons, as I recall.

Yeah, but Ringo was curious. Rocky was his best friend.

I always have an extra Bible or two at home. I’ll make a note to take a few with me when I travel and ‘accidentally’ leave them behind. ;)

I have been to more than one hotel (here in the Bible Belt, no less) with a copy of the Koran.

Evil is in control in America. Decency is dying.

I’m surprised that the millenials’ motels don’t have copies of Playgirl, Blue Jeans for Real Men, Debby Does Debby, Little Sammie has Two Daddies and a Goat, and “Snowflakes of the Month” in each room.

Guess I’m old fashion. A bible in a hotel room was always a nice reminder of the religious/moral foundation of America, regardless of whether you were a Christian or not.

The Bibles were originally placed to be a comfort and to provide spiritual support for men who were traveling on business. A lot of them were away from family and got lonely on the road, and the thought was that having a Bible nearby might lead them from temptation and depression.

I used to make it a point, when I stayed in a hotel, to open the Gideon Bible to any random passage and see if it was relevant to my current situation. It was the last thing I would do before I checked out, and it was surprising how often it seemed to speak to me. Of course, there were also times when the passage was about the lineage of some Old Testament prophet and had nothing to do with what was going on in my life at the time.

If they put koran’s in the rooms, I’ll wipe my arse with the pages.
