Maybe Donald Trump knows exactly what he’s doing with these Cabinet picks
The Washington Post ^ | 2 Dec, 2016 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 12/03/2016 4:23:28 PM PST by MtnClimber

When Donald Trump was elected president three weeks ago, many Democrats -- and even some Republicans -- openly fretted about whom he would pick to be in his Cabinet. Would he appoint only loyalists who affirmed his views? People with zero experience? People no one had ever heard of?

With the announcement Thursday of Gen. James Mattis as his pick for secretary of defense, Trump continues to demonstrate that those early worries were way off base. In fact, Trump's Cabinet choices -- and some of his potential choices -- reflect a political savviness that many people haven't been willing to grant the president-elect.

Cillizza is nasty anti-conservative fake journalist.

He used this piece to take a hit against Jeff Sessions when judicial nomination hearings found he made "racially insensitive" remarks. What Sessions said was:

“The NAACP, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Operation PUSH and the National Council of Churches were all un-American organizations teaching anti-American values.”

These are all marxist, black superiority organizations. I think they are un-American too.

All Trump was doing was signaling if you burn the American flag, better look over your shoulder because whatever happens, whoever beats your ass, I’m okay with that.

And it will be a good hunting ground for ICE.

Well, what do you know, Trump is not that bumpkin you thought he was? Nice to hear there is someone at the Washington Compost that recognizes it. Many more are about to be amazed by watching how a true leader performs on the national scene day in and day out for the next four years.

I think UN Ambassador doesn’t really matter much and is kind of a throw away pick. He probably figured it was a good trade to have his guy move up as Governor of SC.

Whichever candidate that elicits the loudest howls from the Left is my choice.

The columnist reveals himself to be a low-information type. He has a sophomoric comprehension of the issues, at best.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

If they turn out to be Boehner or Ryan, I will be critical if he doesn’t dump them quickly, not that my opinion means anything.

“I hope Trump picks Bolton for Secretary of State.”

NOOOOOOO!!!

Bolton is a neo-con. As in a subscriber to the same neo-imperialist policies that have the Middle East completely destabilized and alienated much of the rest of the world. We don’t need more bomb first and ask questions later idiots running the show.

Her replacement in the SC governor's office is the Lt. Gov. and apparently a friend and early supporter of Trump.

For all we know, he is playing two or three moves ahead of everyone else. Maybe he is just moving her out of the way and then will fire her down the road when she doesn't meet his expectations. Payback for her attacks and non-support in the campaign. Maybe it's for real but it could also be karma or just desserts for Haley.

We don't know what he's doing but that doesn't bother me. I think he is one of the first presidents that I can remember, who doesn't telegraph his every move or next step. He's a negotiator and has to leave the other side guessing to keep his leverage.

I like that as a media tactic. Keep 'em guessing.

“I agree and yes that’s why Trump will pick Bolton”

Watching the MSM go nuts over a phone call from a Democratic president, all I could think of was Bolton for SoS. The fun will never stop.

You don’t get to be a billionaire by hiring unqualified people.

Recognize talent; utilize said talent.

Win!

Not sick of winning.

The only pick I am leery of is Haley for UN ambassador.

I am more leery of Chow for Transportation Secretary. She is Mich McConnell's wife. Maybe Trump did it so that he can tell McConnell "If you sabatoge me on this, your wife is FIRED!"

Trump brought flag burning up for two reasons. First, he wanted the MSM to react hysterically to his comments.

They did not disappoint.

Second, he wanted to rub their noses in their bias. He did this by mentioning the exact same penalty Hillary had advocated in her 2005 anti flag burning bill.

This also worked. Once the initial frenzy died down, the press was confronted by their epic double standard. They lost their minds over a Trump tweet, yet did not even once, during the entire campaign, ever mention the actual bill Hillary sponsored as a US senator.

As usual, Trump won the round decisively. The media ended up looking stupid and corrupt—for the whole world to see.

Cillizza has been much better toward Trump lately, I’ve noticed. Maybe wants to cozy up and get an interview or at least time of day?

Of course Trump knows what he’s doing.

Trump loyalists are people with good judgment and a chitload of commonsense. They see far ahead in the future. The knee jerk reductionists are weaklings and talkers and if were not for Trump, they would surrender on their knees, and their wives and daughters would be wearing burkas.
