I used to teach camping skills to inner city kids from Waco. Had some kids tent camping for a week in an area a couple hundred yards from a poison ivy patch. We went out the weekend prior to the event to prepare. Roped off the PI and tied some red flags as warnings. My group was girls in their 2nd and 3rd year doing this. The warnings off PI areas were well told. Had a couple girls decide they could get away from their responsibility by going behind the sheltering trees into the poison ivy patch. I found them about 5 minutes after they got there. They thot they were all good because they were fully clothed. (Is is inappropriate that I still laugh at this?) Got them to a shower area but they still didnt think following instructions was needed. They’d escaped dishwashing but in removing clothing as carefully as possible, showering thoroughly they did not keep that clothing in sealed plastic ziplocks. Mixed their clothing in their bags and went home covered in PI. Surprisingly both gals came back the next session but with renewed respect and willingness to share their experience with younger girls.

I make my own “juice ade”. 1 part grape juice on sale from Costco. 3 parts water. 1 gram of sea salt (1/4 tsp.) per 9 oz. Cost is about 0.6 cents per ounce or 20 cents per quart.

We’re in the country with a well, too. Straight from the ground. No filter system. Best tasting water ever. I’m third generation drinking it and those before lived into their 90s.

Love my well water. It’s so good that’s probably why it never bothered me when docs said “drink more water.” Basically, I think they didn’t believe me when I told them the quantity I drank. One actually called me a liar, using that word, when I stated my true daily intake. Needless to say, I did not see her again. To this day I can’t explain the kidney stones but I know the over drinking began when a physical therapist continually harped on me to increase water consumption due to muscle spasms. Turned out the muscle spasms were due to nerve damage from a car that crashed into me. The water depleting minerals made the spasms worse. Tailspin! I had sense enough to add minerals which kept me sorta going but didn’t have sense enough to decrease water intake. Duh!

Good thing you found the smart doctor.

Texas well water is the best.

Excellent idea. It would also kill harmful bacteria that could make you ill, so would be more healthy all around. ;-)
