Cmdr. Sarah DeGroot told the head of Amphibious Squadron 3, Capt. Homer Denius, on Monday that she was resigning as the Rushmore's CO. Three sources were unable to immediately specify why she'd taken this highly unusual and likely career-ending move.

That was my thought after reading her bio. I’m puzzled as to how she was selected as the Director of Combat Systems and Tactics Training as well as Lead Tactical Action Officer Mentor at Afloat Training Group San Diego? Her background to that point certainly didn’t prepare her for that assignment. No FFG, DDG, CG experience at all. But she had the Flag Sec job and that’s a must for selection to command.

Navy has been under a lot of pressure. USS Zumwalt, over budget, numerous breakdowns, can’t afford the am,o for its guns. Navy quietly reporting that it is having problems keeping the ships running (maintenance, spares). An emphasis on expensive ‘green’ fuel, transgender changes, etc, instead of focusing on its mission.
