.
Had to be a tire or chassis failure.
.
He obviously was turning the corner.

You still think that?
.
Most school buses are governed to 45, but it would take more than that on such a mild curve unless something broke.
The wrong side of the bus is wrapped around the tree for it to be over or under steer.
.
He had to make the turn to get where he crashed, unless he was going the opposite direction.
Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about.
Latest information given at a press conference seems to confirm your theory of speed being a factor.
This one does fall in to that category. Bus rolled over and hit a tree in the process...
.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, that’s for sure.
How do you suppose the right side of the bus got wrapped around a tree if he was turning right?
.
.
.
To do that much damage requires some speed for sure, but which way was the bus going?
We probably won’t know that until the Tennessee Highway Patrol gets through with their accident reconstruction work. THP has some of the best investigators in the country, and their equipment is second to none. I learned a long time ago not to trust the local news broadcasts on information such as this. I am in Tennessee, BTW, so I know how unreliable they really are around here.
If the bus came out of the curve traveling too fast, the driver likely overcorrected due to weight shift. The bus then may have gone into a counterclockwise yaw, striking the utility pole with its right side before overturning and striking the tree.
I’d need more information to come up with anything more conclusive.
Next time I see a school bus speeding, I’ll pull out my phone, record it, post it on youtube and FR just for you.
What a sad day. Another reason to homeschooled...no school buses...
I agree. I looked at the road on Google Earth...30 mph residential road with fairly tight curves. There is no way a vehicle at 30 mph would be split by a tree like that.
.
Looking at the top of the bus, it looks like the top/right of the bus is where the tree first contacted and it caved in along the top as the bus traveled toward the tree.
A BAC they could have back PDQ. If Walker was drunk, they could charge him right away, hold him on that, and wait for the rest to come in. Absolutely nothing in the media about the driver’s backround, any record, zip. School district better pray Walker doesn’t have one.
And if this was an untripped rollover, would the driver have had to jerk the wheel for some reason? Overcorrection, or on purpose?
I’m going to make a guess here, and theorize that if he was drinking, he denied it, and opted for a blood or urine test. It would take a little time for those results to come back. Waiting to get flamed now by someone who is going to say if he was drinking, it should be obvious and he should have been arrested on the spot. Maybe so, I don’t know, but that might be one of the reasons this was being described as “complicated.”
