I think another symptom of this decline is the de-evolution in dress and appearance by people, in general, in the US. I’m guilty of this as I dress for quickness and comfort most of the time.

Both Dennis Prager and my mom have commented on how poorly people dress now compared to when they grew up. I can remember taking my first plane flight in 1974 at the age of 6. My mom got new clothes for her for the occasion, and she got new duds for me, too. No one would have gone onto a plane dressed shabby back then. It was a big event. But today people are very primal and tribal with their appearances. I don’t get it.

Tom Wolfe’s classic “The Painted Word” discussed this topic in detail.

I don’t blame it on the artists—I blame it on the “art critics” who are little more than a cult.

The entire reason modern art is so bad goes to the National Endowment for the Arts. Once some talent-less geeks found out they could get paid to party while doing “art”, the gig was up.

I went to the Trump website and put in a request to defund and destroy the NEA. Good art will pay for itself, bad art should starve to death.

from what I've seen - because older art was so good and modern art is about expressing "feelings and not so not pleasing the eyes? When I look at paintings by the masters and compare them to this modern crap art there is no comparison, particulary the artists who paint realistically like this. There's a lot of really good contermporary artists who paint realistically. I'm no art scholar at all but I did done my fair share of sketching and some painting when I was younger and enjoy what is pleasing to the eye:

IMO, somewhere, someone didn't say, *NO. That's garbage.*

Liberals, elites and know-it-alls told us we aren't intelligent enough to appreciate great art. And thus it began.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; and painting on velvet has gone out of style

for a second I thought were referring to the National Education Association which also needs to be defunded because there is strong evidence that they are one of the forces contributing to the Not Trump rioters...(getting universities to participate in the protests; actually they appear to be the majority of the protesters with the exception of the BLM'ers who are blending in with them that they are saying are creating their problems when the groups are actually communicating with each other and joined at the hip). Sorry, now back to art...;)
