I have NEVER owned a pair of dugarees ( jeans for those younger than I am ) and have worn a pair exactly twice in my entire life, so exercise pants ( which I also own none of )are also on my DO NOT EVER WEAR, EXCEPT FOR EXERCISING, on my no-no list. :-)

I could sew, if I had a machined, I guess; even know how to make French seams, but since I’m now buried in the boonies, I wear slacks; old ones at that, but still in good condition.

A nice, simple bob, from shoulder length to bottom of the ear, suits most faces and ages. I’m sure that there are other styles that could be updated a bit, that would also suit most people.

All I made recently, garment wise, were a bunch of capris over the summer and a tank top. I used to make dresses, skirts, PJ’s, nightgowns and such when I worked. I was never really good at it-I’m still not-but I enjoy it sometimes.

Now, I never go anywhere except the grocery store, so just wear jeans and t shirts.

I don’t know how people get by without a sewing machine.

Even if I’m not quilting or making garments, I’ve always got a sewing machine set up for repairs.

No it didn't!

I grew up with wall to wall ( except in the bedrooms, where it was NEEDED! ), and that was the norm...not the exception!

In my entire school life, first grade through grad school, I knew exactly one, ONE KID, who had asthma.

I have NEVER owned a sewing machine and when I needed one ( school projects ) used my great grandmother's. Somewhere along the line, I think when I went off to boarding school, my mother disposed of it somehow. *shrugs*

When my kiddo was 8 or nine, my kiddo only wanted to be Yoda, for Halloween. Nobody, but NOBODY, anywhere, was selling such a costume or even a pattern, so I just stepped up and made one, by hand. LOL...I still have it and wish that the kiddo had taken it, at some point ( instead of being happy to leave it here, hanging in one of the guest room closets ), because my grandson played Yoda, in a skit at camp, last summer. :-)

You’d think we could support a fabric store but we can’t keep a bookstore afloat either.

Yep, Barnes & Noble in WC Broadway Plaza is now an Anthropologie store, will B&N ever return?

If you can do that by hand, imagine what you could do with all the tools.

:)

Probably not.

Bookstores are suffering from ebooks and a dumbed down consumer base.

It isn't a "thing of beauty", believe me, but it was good enough and all these decades later, is still in great shape. LOL

I even bought and attached dark green satin frogs for the closings at the neck. Pretty fancy for a sack-like garment made out of dark green burlap! hehehehehehe

Oh well, maybe someone will begin making wearable clothes again ( though I mostly live in cords & sweaters in the winter and linen slacks and polos in the summer, now ) for people who don';t want to look like freaks or worse.

That's sadly all too true, but there aren't any decent writers any more, so it almost doesn't matter.

I refuse to read a "BOOK" on a damned machine!

My teenage daughter even hates the clothes in stores.

She refuses to dress like a hootchie mama so she wears t shirts and jeans.

It’s kind of hard to find a happy medium.

She is drop dead beautiful.
She is well spoken and demure in several languages.
She carries herself with class and style.
She is loyal to her family and children, like a bull dog.
Her stepchildren love her.

She will grace the White House with style, dignity, and class. I am most pleased she will be our First Lady. President Elect Donald Trump is a very lucky man to have this lady by his side.

Jackie Kennedy will have a run for the best first lady ever. Until now, Jackie Kennedy was the best first lady ever. She still is, but that may change.

ps
She was a wealthy super model before she married Donald Trump. She did not need Donald Trump for his wealth. Donald Trump needed her. As said, Trump is a very lucky man. Without her he would just be a very successful hotel builder and I suspect somewhat lost.

I agree. Not too many decent writers.

Nothing but shallow smutty stuff.

Even expensive clothes t'aint what they used to be; though Carolina Herrera stuff is still lovely.

And finding something age appropriate is getting more and more difficult, no matter what age one is.

I’m just rereading books I haven’t read in many decades, now, unless there is some new nonfiction tome ( usually British ) that is on something/one I care about.

Jackie Kennedy was a slut, tried a million things on and then just dropped them on the floor, expecting the White House maids to clean up after her, and was DRESSED by many different designers, who picked out her clothes FOR her.

DON'T BUY THE HYPE/PROPAGANDA !

Julie Christie! I was trying to think what actress Melania reminded me of!
