Ballot Initiative for Blue States or Cities Only--Smoke Out Dems Using Their Own Principles
self

Posted on 11/12/2016 11:47:26 AM PST by Be Careful

If we think this through, we can flip the tyranny of the Left back onto them.

Seminal Idea here with discussion/rationale in comment section:

Create a ballot initiative that guarantees anyone that works in the private sector continuously for 20 years in a certain state to receive 2/3rds guaranteed income for life, plus full medical, dental, and cost of living increases

Funding this would be by imposing a 'Fair Share Tax' on Public Employees Pensions.....or perhaps just leaving the funding part open-ended and left up to the Blue State to figure it out.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS:
I spoke with a young person who works in the private sector, works like a dog and whose retirement plan is to work until age 80 and to just drop in the field at the end of things......this young person, unable to save any money for himself, was very defensive of Public Employees right to receive their cadillac benefits after working only 20 years because 'they deserve it'

I am thinking 'What???'...and you are willing to do this while you work harder and for no guarantees?.

In that the hipsters cannot connect the dots....if we float a 'fair share' concept of allowing them to receive benefits, too......it would be crazy to see how the State Governments (run by Dems in Blue States, of course) would squirm and writhe and how they would run the ad campaigns against the issue.

I realize that there are many loose floorboards in my thought.....but it always pays to think outside the box and to hear what Freepers have to say.

So, please don't flame me for trying to think out of the box. And, I really look forward to constructive discussion.

LOL. But not a bad idea. You're proposing that we press a little harder on a gas pedal that already has the blue states going 100 MPH.

I like it.

Income should be earned based on free market principles.

Bad idea. The last thing we need is more government interference.

most people just need to learn how to use their money wisely, not how to get more, or to even think they should get more - that is the thought seed to greed, over spending, debt, waste of what they do buy, need more $, etc cycle

Retiring after 20 is not the norm and certainly is not the way it works in WA State.

Oh, sure, the public pensioners might go for the first half of your idea: guaranteed pensions for private sector employees.

But they’d just impose even more onerous taxes on private sector employers to pay for it. They’d never tax their own pensions, as you suggest, which are already paid for by taxes to begin with.

Why reduce their own gravy train when they can express solidarity with their worker-brethren, while making evil capitalists suffer even more?

Dissolve all public sector unions. Retirement age for public employees to receive a full pension should 70 y/o.

An EO created public unions, an EO can end them. Starve the democrat beast by cutting off the tax money laundering machine.

You just structure the retirement to match the State workers retirement and benefits. It would also be smart to structure medical benefits to be exactly like those of US Senators and Congressmen.

I like it. Make them live by their own rules. If it is a good idea, then it is a good idea for everyone else. If it is a bad idea then let them have to admit it.
