Second Squirrel Attack At Central Florida Retirement Community
NBC Miami ^ | 11/7

Posted on 11/07/2016 6:49:24 PM PST by nickcarraway

A squirrel is dead after the bloodthirsty animal targeted an elderly woman at a central Florida senior community.

Initial reports indicate the attack happened Monday at the Sterling Court Gracious Retirement Living in Deltona.

One week ago, at least three seniors were attacked by a squirrel at the same complex.

The victim in the second attack suffered bites, scratches and a broken wrist after she fell while trying to defend herself from the squirrel, witnesses said.

A staff member shot and killed the squirrel with a BB gun.

Health officials are testing the animal for rabies.

when you kill a squirrel with a bb gun, you’ve taken the long way to the goal.

My pooch caught one last week and crushed the life out of it.

Never seen a dog attack a critter like that - considering he’s a Carolina Dog, I saw a glimpse of how his wild dog ancestors still hunt.

A good squirrel is a dead squirrel.

One of the guys on a local talk radio car show was talking recently about a recipe book he was working on that used road kill. Pretty funny. Guess cane kill would work just as well for the protein part. Doubt if old granny could slay an armadillo with her cane though and we have a lot of those.

“I’m surprised a nursing home employee happened to have a bb gun handy.”

I work at nursing home and am surprised that an employee would be so under gunned also. I carry a compact 9MM most of the time. The director of nursing has a S&W .38 snubby, The administrator doesn’t have a carry permit yet but keeps an XD40 handy. BBC guns? We don’t need no stinking BB guns.

My Massachusetts dog just breaks the neck by rapid head movements and puts the squirrel down——not a mark on it.

No that is when Jimmy Carter was attacked by the killer rabbit.

they're feeding the squirrels IMO...of course they're going to hang around...

my crazy SIL started feeding the birds, then thought it was cute to feed the squirrels with sugary cereal and then it was cute to have the racoons and skunks come in and even a possum...well, now she has rats coming around...

of course in Portland so what do you expect...

On general principles I can see being armed, but is there a specific threat at nursing homes? Also, those calibers wouldn't be very good for squirrels, the still might be a piece of fur left. To really eliminate them you'd want a 12 gauge.

Remind Granny not to handle Armadillos barehanded. Many of them are capable of passing Leprosy bacteria onto humans.
