If you are a patriotic Conservative, Rick Steves is NOT your tour. Recently, a friend of mine took a tour to Sicily sponsored by Mr. Steves. The Tour went fine until the last day when they visited a war museum in Catania. The Tour Guide, a creature called "Alfeo" went on a long anti-American tirade, attacking us for our effort in Europe, blaming Black Lives Matter on the police, stating American troops raped Sicilian women, American flag waving Sicilians were forced to do so under armed force, 9-11 was our own fault, etc.
My friend spoke out and told the guide to shut up and stop attacking America, he was on vacation and did not want to hear politics. "Alfeo" ignored my friend and went on with his rant, stating RICK STEVES WANTED THIS TIRADE DELIVERED, IT WAS HIS POLICY.

I enjoy his shows on TV. You are in lala land if you expect his tours to be shoving 4th of July up the wazzoo of the countries he visits.
I don’t see a hard left bent in his shows, more of just a “polite guest” mentality.
I am doubting the veracity of this as I cannot guess this is a good way to get repeat business. I really doubt Steves wrote an America Hating script and demanded it be delivered. Especially if a tourist video got out. I’ve had a few tour guides give leftist takes on things, but this tour de force sounds like a bit much. Did he take a video of this tour guide?

I tried to watch one of his TV shows on Israel but it was basically a propaganda piece for the P.A. It actually showed Arafat’s grave. Why would anyone be interested in seeing that unless they needed to pee?
Followed his videos for years. You saw his leftwing BS politics when he did his Iran juncket and to Israel. The latter was full of Pali sympathizing. Also in Spain and his whitewashing of those Moorish interlopers.
Yeah, the Israel version was the episode where his democrat side was most openly on display. I noticed it in that one too.
I bought his book “Europe Through the Back Door” about 25 years ago. It had a lot of good information and was apolitical for the most part. I don’t know if that can be said for the current edition.
