Thanks for sharing. Part of the soundtrack to my teen years in a time like 1984 and “Heartbeat City” was a really good album made by The Cars. Even though some good stuff still followed, ‘84 was probably the last really decent year for AM Top 40, as it seemed everything got really MTVized and formulaic beginning about this time, IMHO.

Ben Orr was a good singer, he is sadly missed.

Funny. There was a “behind the music” program about the Cars last night on a classic rock station. Ric Ocasek said he always make Ben Orr sing the really good songs because he’s a better singer than he was.

The Cars never topped their first album, though.

One of my all time favorites! ... And I’m 71, so there have been a lot of tunes that don’t make my cut.

Who was that left handed lead guitarist? Really good.

Elliott Easton, and yes, I thought he was a very underrated guitarist, they reduced the role of the guitar on subsequent albums, which is why IMHO they aren’t as good.

RIP Benjamin Orr, one of my all time favorite 80’s songs. I was in my late teens and 20’s in the 80’s best times of my life.

Heartbeat City came close, but didn’t quite get there. Panorama was probably the most disappointing album I ever bought. That first album was a classic.

“Moving in Stereo” plays a pivotal scene in which teen 80’s movie?
