I know that they draw it down in the fall to prep for an influx in winter/spring. How recent is this picture?

Wow. I forget, is Fontana a power company lake?

Whoever it is let TOO MUCH water out of a relatively small mountain lake.

Fontana is usually gorgeous and COLD water. *we have a place near Franklin.

THAT to me looks like mismanagement for Fontana.

Same for our oldest who works downtown ATL. He got tired of the afternoon rains and 60 miles away we could not buy a drop.

Too many people, not enough infrastructure (NEW reservoirs), too many enviro-lawyers.

Say what you will about Texas, but our past legislators got it right when they approved the hundreds of manmade lakes.

Last year's deluge was one of those "hundred year floods", while this year we've had occasional rains that have kept yards alive during the worst of the July and August heat.

I wish I could give you all some of the rain falling on my place. Here in NW Oregon we’ve had triple the normal rainfall for October. There have been 9 days so far this month with rainfall over a half inch.

Rivers are already high. If this keeps up, the flood control dams may have to start releasing water several months early. When that happens, then it is flood city in the valleys.

It’s been the same for us in Eastern Washington. Normally October is my month to get the yard squared away for winter but we haven’t had enough clear days with sunshine for the grass to dry out. Our soil is completely saturated, which is unusual here in the desert.

The hills even have green on them and normally they’re as brown as the surrounding basalt this time of year.

I hear you. They are calling for possible 90 degree temps here in Central Alabama through next Thursday. We have already had 4 days this month of 90+, first time I can remember 90 in October in a long time.

It is horrible here in Western Alabama. Parts of my yard are so dusty that it is starting to resemble the Dust Bowl.

When I mow my yard, I literally create a dust storm so bad that it’s hard to breathe. Even when my dogs are wagging their tails & their tails hit the ground, a miniature dust storm erupts.

I’m also hating the ridiculously hot temperatures. I have new winter clothes that I didn’t get to wear last year and probably won’t get to wear this year either.
I would love to have several days of rain & cool, Fall temperatures. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon.
