Voting early vs voting on Nov. 8
27 October 2015 | me

I'm thinking voting early just gives (them) more time to monkey around with a vote if that is going on.

Voting on election day doesn't give them enough time or ability to monkey around with the vast majority of votes.

Thoughts?

Also, how do they know what the vote tally is from early voting that the seem to be reporting on? I thought those votes weren't counted until election day or at least the results weren't released until election day? Are these exit polls at early voting sites that we are hearing about?

I dislike everything about the Early Voting concept. It just seems tailor-made for abuse.

We prefer to vote on voting day. I don’t trust early voting either.

I voted early.

Worried Dems will crash the computerized voting at Republican areas on Election Day.

The primary two methods of messing with the vote are the registration rolls and the readers/scanners/ whatever other machine. Early or on election doesn’t change either opportunity. I vote early to get it over with.

My absentee vote was on a paper ballot.

They have more of a chance to rig an electronic vote, in my opinion.

Voting early ==> Increases dead vote

Voting day ==> Increases bussing same group of voters to multiple polling locations (some of whom may also be registered as “dead” voters)

How come all those republicans that are voting don’t cause
the machines to crash?

Every polling place is different and ability to vote during work. Are you sure you can go Tuesday morning and vote?

My polling place is tiny and easy to vote, but some are mayhem

I’m voting early this Saturday, but I live in West Virginia and no amount of fraud will save Hillary here (the polls I’ve seen have Trump with between an 18 and 24 point lead)...

I’d prefer voting only on election day. But, in states with early votes, please vote early and then volunteer on election day for Get-Out-the Vote.

Just being a smiling face with a Trump button, greeting people and being pleasant outside the polls is very important. And you don’t have to do this all day. Take a shift. Or bring coffee and donuts to the people at the HQ making the calls.

Especially in Florida, but really in every battleground state. We win or lose on turnout.

Mr. TA3 votes early because he is often having to fly out of town last minute for work. I will vote on 8th. My daughter's first time to vote. We will be voting Trump together.

Agreed! I never understood the mentality they're espousing. You mean to tell me that people are too damn lazy to go to a central point in your local area to cast a ballot once every 2 years. Seriously, is that so difficult? It's the same time every single time. There's no case to be made for this being difficult.

Besides, I've not yet worked for a company that did not give us leeway with late arrival/early leave to vote. It should be considered everyone's duty to show up to a poll every 2 years to cast a ballot. I'll never understand the sloth we espouse.

Ditto.

The polls are open for 12 whole hours. If someone can’t figure out a way to drag their carcass to the polls, they don’t deserve the honor of voting.

If you are legitimately unable to vote on election day due to age, infirmity, illness or planned travel, their is the option of Absentee voting. It should however be limited to those reasons and those reasons only. Absentee ballots should not be mailed to people unless requested in writing.

Voter rolls should be 100% purged every 5 years. If you desire to vote, you have several years to drag your sorry carcass to the board of elections.

Voters should provide one or two positive forms of identification before voting. Period.

A temporary but non-removable mark should be placed on the skin of a voter after they have cast their ballot. I like the purple ink on the finger but am open to other options.

A temporary I Voted tattoo works for me as well

Lots of info is still coming out...early voting should be illegal. Course, I live where it’s all mail in...sitting on our ballots till probably the 7th...I’ve volunteered at election office...Nov 8th will probably be crazy...altho all they have to do is press a few keys to tally up the previous 3 weeks ballots as the others come in. But opening and checking signature of those takes time...IF THEY DO IT...I have a friend working the election iffice who thinks some signature checking isn’t happening...

This is why I want elections to go this way:

1. Make Election Day a Federal holiday so there's no excuse not to go out to the polling station because you have to work. This will eliminate the need for early voting and mail-in ballots.
2. Require anyone who votes to show a Real ID compliant picture identification card.
3. Ballots are by paper mark-sense ballots filled out with a permanent ink marker (stamp or pen). The nice thing about mark-sense ballots is that they are easily counted by both machine and hand counts.

YES. Early voting, immediate registration, no ID voting, absentee voting, these should all be eliminated, except in extreme cases (such as military deployment). The voter rolls should be purged every 10 years. Everyone should be forced to re-register every 10 years. Registrations should be closed 2 weeks prior to elections. Keep all polling places open 24 hours day of election.

WHY should voting be made like buying a hamburger? Its a responsibility as well as a right. Above all, integrity of the process and respect for the responsibility should be key in the design of the system.

Some people claim that Trump supporters should vote early because it will send a message to the media that Trump is winning.

But if the media is lying about the polls then they will lie about the early turnout. And if/when voter counts are too tilted towards Trump to be finagled, they will just downplay or ignore them.

I say vote on election day because that is the grand tradition. I also, agree with you that it will be more difficult for Dems to rig the results at the last minute than along the way.

If the Dems start drinking their own Kool-Aid then they may only stuff X thousands of ballot boxes when they should have stuffed Y thousands of ballot boxes to get Hillary elected.
