Before a game between Middletown South High School and Toms River North High School, Middletown police deputy chief Stephen Dollinger organized a ceremony to honor those who serve.

I have had it.

They can voice their opinions all they want.

And then shove them up their collective obamaholes.

I actually hope that a show of force was at least a partial motive for the event. It is time patriots started pushing back against the left. We stand up to them now so we don’t have to get ugly with them later on.

“Show of force” against what?

'It's OK to stand up for social justice, inequality and reform. It's another thing to not stand up for the national anthem,' Dollinger told the paper.

It was this comment that drew the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey.

Just about anything that can be done to piss off the ACLU is okay by me.

If they have a “right” to kneel, we have the “right” to show patriotism...

Absolutely. There is no good reason to inject this into a football game.

I bet the taxpayers paid for this little P.R. stunt, too.

Can’t speak to that, but that they are in uniform implies that they are being paid to be there.

"Inject" Patriotism?

Yeah according to you it's a bad thing.

Why would we want to display American exceptionalism anywhere?

Perhaps to fight back against the anti-Americanism that now infects our country and which you seem to agree with?

If the freedom that “patriotism” pretends to salute were genuine, then some people freely choosing to decline to participate in a “patriotic” event wouldn’t actually be a problem. Because, after all, that’s the freedom that’s allegedly being celebrated.

Back in the real world, those who haven’t drunk the government Kool-Aid realize that this is a government action designed to intimidate citizens into compliance with its increasingly lawless practices.

Also, for some reason it does not seem to compute with you that this was paid for by money stolen from taxpayers, who have been betrayed by this waste.

Actually it's just the opposite, a pity you don't see it.

This instance in this article, (and others), are the pockets of real American patriotism that still exist throughout the fruited plains.

These fine people haven't drank the 0bama regime kool-aid.

Also, for some reason it does not seem to compute with you that this was paid for by money stolen from taxpayers,

Hilarious..I guess you don't think any of these fine police officers would donate their off-duty time to volunteer to do this Patriotic gesture.

I feel sorry for you and your ilk who apparently think that there are no American Patriots left in this great country who still stand for Freedom and the American way.

Your arrogance and ignorance are astounding.

That and a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee in Brooklyn.

If these people want to have this demonstration on their own time and their own dime, all the more power to them.

That’s not what’s happening here. What’s really happening here is that the taxpayer is being robbed to pay for a government P.R. stunt that is almost certainly not supported by any law - and is probably an unlawful use of taxpayer money in a number of ways.

In what kind of does the government force people to feel “patriotic” at gunpoint?
