You could take the informal 7-Eleven “coffee cup” poll with a grain of salt, but the “purple” (Speak Up) cups are in the lead (40% nationally) and I don’t think they’re voting for Hillary Clinton.

I know we got burned on disbelieving the polls in the past but I get the feeling that this year will be a landslide for Trump. In fact, his victory will be so large that on the morning of November 9th, we'll be wondering what all the suspense was all about.

It was a rainy and cold Saturday here in Connecticut so I had the luxury of watching all three Trump events in their entirety, along with all the "pre-game" activity on RSBN and social media, etc. Not just here on Free Republic but over on Reddit, on Twitter and on Facebook. There is definitely something big brewing. The Gettysburg speech earlier today was just mind-blowing. He was not only presidential but he truly threw down the gauntlet to take America back for the people. The establishment Beltway crowd must be shaking in their loafers this Saturday evening.

This reminds me of the 1980 campaign in that it wasn't until the final 2-3 weeks that the American people started realizing that Ronald Reagan could actually win this thing. Up until then, the mainstream media of the day, while not exactly enamored of Jimmy Carter, did all they could to typecast Reagan as a loose cannon, a cowboy B-movie actor who would blunder us into WW3.

In mid-October, the "polls" had Carter with a double-digit lead over Reagan! But in those final days, you could see the enthusiasm for Reagan building, the large crowds, the excitement of electing a president who would actually reverse America's slide and make America great again.

Believe it or not, Reagan used that slogan as well: "Make America Great Again."

I don't think anybody begrudges Trump for reviving that slogan for 2016. We need that sentiment today more than ever.

If we were to take the 7-11 cup poll seriously, we have to recognize it is biased. They don’t have enough 7-11s in many of the red states to include those states in their poll. In 2012, Obama won the 7-11 cup poll by 16 points, and the election by 4 points. Thus, a 14 point bias. Currently, Clinton is running 2 points ahead of Trump. Taking bias into account, this means Trump is going to win by 12 points.
