Artist Jasper Johns three flags painting at the Whitney Art Museum.
Johns' early technique of painting with thick, dripping encaustic over a collage made from found materials such as newspaper. This rough method of construction is rarely visible in photographic reproductions of his work.

Don’t know a great deal about Jasper Johns although I’ve seen it at the Whitney. I’m in trouble on FR for liking Pollack!

Both became hugely popular.
Johns flag painting is exquisitely crafted ——
each flag is neatly sized and is very soothing to the eye.
