Well, it appears the New York Jets are planning to make a quarterback change after all.
According to ESPNs Adam Schefter, head coach Todd Bowles will name Geno Smith the starting quarterback this week against the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who butted heads over his contract with the team all summer before signing on the eve of training camp, has been benched for ineffectiveness.

We know what Geno is and he sucks too. Might as well throw Petty and/or Hackenberg out there.
I don’t see how Geno Smith is going to fix their problems. The organization clearly didn’t think he was in their future during the off-season, giving their drafting, etc.
There seems to be a bigger problem on that team outside of personnel woes that needs fixing.
He should start kneeling before games so they can’t cut him.
I knew when The Beard staged his long holdout that he would have a subpar season. Too bad Fitz-— you make a good 2nd string replacement on the bench but thats about it.
BWAAHAHAHAHAHA... yeah, that ought to do it.
You know it’s bad when they have to go to Geno!
I don’t know why he doesn’t have it, but he just doesn’t seem to have it.
Maybe things would click with the Browns...
How the hell did Fitz ever beat the Bills back in September?
He looks terrible - and Geno Smith will look even worse.
Don’t. Care. At all.
Coulda had Tebow - never even gave him a chance.
At least if they had played him it would have increased tickets sales. And please don’t tell me he is not a “NFL” quarterback. How can anyone say that with a straight face? After all of desperate attempts by teams to find a functional quaterback and here is a guy chopping at the bit to go win games. No, he is not a superstar, but there are very few of those. What he will do is play his heart out, generate tons of money and good will, but nooooo, can’t have an outspoken Christian as our team leader.
Sounds like a good home for Romo when he returns
How much are they paying him? Held out for more $$$. Hard to believe he’s worth anything. Give them Kapernick.
Romo’s fragility makes him a difficult trade.
They are the most LOST team in the history of football.
I’ve wasted 40 years of my life following them.
They had FOUR years where they could have won it all if they had even a DECENT team!!
2 years with the NY Sack Exchange
The first 2 years under Ryan. We didn’t lose i spite of QBs. We lost BECAUSE of the QBs.
So ####ing CHEAP when it comes to QBs!!!!
Fitz should be charged with theft.
Agh. I am not a Jets fan (I follow another team, you don’t want to know!) but I can’t fault Fitzpatrick for trying to get all the money he can.
Note: I have always liked Fitzpatrick, even if I recognize he isn’t the most talented. He seems tough and hard-working, but...he should be a career backup. I think if everything was just right, he could have a good year (like he did last year) but...how often does it all come together for a quarterback and team like that? Fitzpatrick just didn’t seem to have enough of a reservoir of natural talent to overcome the adversity of losing Decker and such.
The good news for New York is that he only has a one year contract.
Another Harvard failure just like the one in the White Hut.
Ha! Picked up Ravens in all my leagues as a streaming defense. Madness. Geno Smith shouldn’t be throwing T-Shirts at a concert
This team eats QB’s.
They’ve been incapable of bringing up a rookie QB. So they usually rely on has-beens and over the hill veterans.
They destroyed Sanchez.
Woody has had no idea what he is doing from day one.
And as usual, the coaching sucks. Reminds me of the days of Herman Edwards.
Changing the QB will have very little effect on what’s going on with this team. They suck all over.
They also need to go back to the 4-3.
Bowles will be gone by the end of next season.
Gino could wind up in Pittsburgh Monday morning if Big Ben is out for the year.
And please dont tell me he is not a NFL quarterback.
Agreed. The Jets have 4 on their roster and apparently not one is an NFL qb, either.
No, Tebow wasn’t a Brett Farve but he dang sure shook things up when he was in. IF someone had been savvy enough to work with him he could have been an excellent back up or a starter.
But no...HIS taking a knee to pray was mocked and ridiculed. He was hounded out of the league.
