I was a real estate agent back in the early 1980's, and a built-in backyard swimming pool did not increase the value or desirability of a property. I've heard that said many times.However,I've heard that it varies by region.A pool in suburban NYC can even detract from the value of a house while one in Florida (swimming weather 10-12 months a year) can enhance the value.

Where I live the pool raises the real estate taxes so it is viewed as a liability by some.

A real estate vetting process is much tougher than a vetting process to become POTUS or green cards.

They think they can raise the price a couple million just because of their name.
Maybe I can raise the price of my house because LBJ used the facilities next door. Or maybe I should keep that quiet.
