James Bareham / The Verge

Google has announced Android 7.1 Nougat, which adds a number of features to Android 7.0 that launched earlier this year. Android 7.1 brings new features to all devices, but it also includes a number of special things that are exclusive to Google's new lineup of Pixel phones.

The Pixel phones will have Google's new launcher, Google Assistant, a phone and chat tech support service, unlimited, original-quality backup for photo and video to Google Photos, and a new Smart Storage feature that automatically removes backed up photos and video when the phone's storage is full. They also have a few cosmetic updates, including more system theming options, unique navbar icons, and a dynamic calendar date icon.

The rest of the Android world will get a new Night Light option (similar to Apple's NIght Shift), touch and display improvements, Daydream VR support, gestures for the fingerprint scanner, and a number of developer-focused enhancements.

Google did not say when Android 7.1 would be available for non-Pixel devices, but the new Pixel phones will be available later this month.

In before all of the Apple Nerds say that it's junk.

And, before the Linux nerds tell the Windows Nerds to get a real system.

I am operating system agnostic and I will point out that it is in fact junk.

It doesn’t come anywhere near meeting my minimum requirements for a phone, yet many three to five year old phones would.

It’s got some eye candy but it falls sadly short of basic adequacy for my daily use.

The petty arguments between the various camps has gone from funny to creepy.

I have mentioned that my wife is considering going from her Android Smart phone to an I phone 5 or 6 using tracfone.

She is concerned about bringing her photos and contact lists and transferred to her new Iphone IOS system.

Apple has a free app on the Google Playstore that does that.

The Androidians’s response and so called ranking/rating of this app looks like and oral/posting battle between different Jihadists sects.

Those, who used the app said that it worked well. The non users went over to the dark side like our so called discussions that Trump was not a real conservative.

The Google Android app is: Move to IOS. Visit the app for a laugh. movetoios

Android is trash. Google has no business being in the software industry nor buying software companies.

Did you know Google Android does NOT give browser apps access to the folder directories?? But their native browser does??

GARBAGE

I just got this link from Google on my Chromebook:

It appears to be very thorough with what is available and will be with minimal vapor ware.
