Members of the MMA community across Florida are hoping for good news as a popular figure in the sport is in a coma inside a South Florida hospital.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, 28-year-old Josh Samman was found unresponsive while in the area with his roommate and fight promoter, Troy Kirkingburg who was pronounced dead.
Hollywood Police said the men were found Thursday night at Kirkingburg's home in the 2200 block of N. 58th Avenue.
So far, police have not revealed any details about what took place before the two men were found. Originally from Tallahassee, both men had relocated recently to the Hollywood area. Police said there were no signs of foul play and detectives are investigating.
Samman made his professional debut in 2007 and was a contestant on the UFC reality show The Ultimate Fighter, becoming one of the top names on the Florida circuit and helping to expand the sport in the Sunshine State.
He had written a recent autobiography detailing his life both in and out of the ring including the death of his girlfriend in a 2013 traffic accident.
GOV’t Media complex is something else.
Florida must be slipping away too.
People die every day.
Ask Hillary.
Praying it wasn’t drugs.
OD was my first thought.
One dead the other in a coma with no sign of foul play.
Can’t think of too many other likely scenarios.
The only other would be laced or poison in some sort of PED.
Very strange.
Drugs?
I guess there could have been a carbon monoxide leak in the room but, yeah, OD is the most likely scenario.
” Originally from Tallahassee, both men had relocated recently to the Hollywood area.”
Hmmm, one guess.
My first thought was murder-suicide but no idea of the motive. I know police said no sign of foul play but depending on the means it might not be obvious at first.
