It was a mic. The ones on the lectern are usually not connected, or they are back ups.

Why these candidates are not inspected for any special devices before the debate is just an indication that the MSM is fully in support of cheating on there side no matter what it may be.
Can this be hacked? That would be amusing.
And the truth here is that these ladies have sponsors who pay for a product. When that product goes bad or stale, they are losing out on their investment. People don't see it that way but when you are paying for what they are selling, hell yeah it can very irritating when the product self destructs.
Watch in the video at the end, she walks over to him to shake his hand, he shakes her hand and the other hand goes on her back.
Also accused, Gore in 2000, Obama in 2008 and 2012, Romney in 2012, though neither went viral like the Bush charge. No evidence for any of it. Accusations that on candidate or the other is wired have become the rule, not the exception.
Not unusual to have two mics. One mic at the podium for better sound and if the lapel mic fails, and a lapel mic for if the speaker moves away from the main mic.
Maybe it’s the best route for her pointy prehensile tail, the real mystery is how she squeezes her cloven hooves into such pedestrian shoes.
It would seem to me that the large microphone and the small microphone served different purposes. Perhaps one was used to feed into the TV signal, while the other one was used for the speakers in the auditorium.

Some are speculating that Clinton’s lectern was set up to be used like a walker to stabilize her.
They were both wearing lapel mics, you just have to look close to see the one Trump was wearing.
Preachin’ had a good point, could be one for the TV feed, one for the house PA.
Whatever the case, they each had a lapel mic, I checked it last night when I saw hers. That’s why I never asked about it, I knew it was a nothingburger.
