Debate swirls around unarmed black man’s actions prior to fatal police shooting in Tulsa

A day after police in Oklahoma released video that shows a white Tulsa police officer fatally shooting an unarmed black man, attorneys representing the slain man’s family released photos that they said contradict a key claim in authorities’ version of events.

At a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Benjamin Crump — a civil rights lawyer who has represented many families of those killed in high-profile police shootings — said Terence Crutcher never reached his hands into the driver’s side window of his stalled sport-utility vehicle before he was shot by police.

Crutcher couldn’t have reached into the vehicle, Crump said, because enhanced photos of the vehicle taken from police video show that the window was rolled up.

If confirmed by police, the admission would eliminate one of the chief justifications for police using deadly force against Crutcher.

More and more this is looking like poor decision making on the part of the officers.

You would think on FR there would be innocence until proven guilty in a court of law. We know the press is only going to lie and promote their BLM agenda.

Pray America wakes

That apparently doesn't apply to Terence Crutcher.

Be careful what you advocate for, FRiend. Hillary has never been proven guilty in a court of law. Yet common sense tells us she is a major criminal.

The guy was acting strange for sure, but I wonder why they didn’t taze him before he could get back to his car.

Apples/Pineapples. What does Hillary have to do with a traffic stop.

If he obeys the cops he is alive today. He chose badly.

because enhanced photos of the vehicle taken from police video show that the window was rolled up.

I've been saying that from the first thread, and didn't even need the pictures enhanced.

The guy shot may have been a low-life -- his family seems to admit as much -- and may even have needed shooting as a general proposition, but at this point, it isn't looking good for the cops. As I said early on, bad optics.

Contempt of cop isn't a capital crime in any law book in this country. And with more and more cops, from the FBI down, working for the bad guys, that's something we should be glad of.

I do not give a damn what color this guy was, he was an American citizen. Police use of deadly force is out of control in our county, and something needs to be done about it.

Police cannot be judge jury and executioner in America.

Where did all the real cops go? You know, the ones who used to take down criminals without using a gun? Heck, it wasn’t long ago that nearly every truck in America had a gun rack in the back window. How in the world did officers refrain from shooting everyone back then?

When the cops have guns drawn and are screaming get on the ground, it's probably a better idea to comply than to ignore them and stroll back to your car.

Benjamin Crump is due for a win. What’s he now, 0 for 5?

Not necessarily, because the police may not have been able to see that the window was rolled up, AND Crutcher had already demonstrated his willful decision to disobey lawful police
orders by moving away from them and walking to his vehicle.

“If he obeys the cops he is alive today”

So obey the cops or die. Sounds real American.... I’m sure that is exactly what the founders were thinking when they created this nation.

How many cops need to die for you to be happy they are not using deadly force?

He obeys the cops with guns pulled and he lives. He makes a move that looks like going for a gun and he dies. Pretty hard decision, but the right one.

So you don’t think we should obey the cops. Not the way I look at Conservatism.

And if the police hadn't panicked and shot him then he'd be alive today as well. What about their choice?
