he Santa Clara police union issued a letter to the San Francisco 49ers that indicated police may stop working the team's home games due to Colin Kaepernick's statements on police brutality and his wearing of socks during a practice that showed cartoon pigs dressed as police officers.

The letter, obtained by NBC Bay Area, stated that if the 49ers organization does not take action against Kaepernick, "it could result in police officers choosing not to work at your facilities."

The letter also stated that "the board of directors of the Santa Clara Police Officers' Association has a duty to protect its members and work to make all of their working environments free of harassing behavior."

Lotta overtime and free games lost for the cops. I wonder if they checked with the rank and file first?

I think the socks with the big Pig face and the cop hat on it might have tipped the scales. That afro wearing POS isn’t going to be around long anyway. He can’t make the first team, SF isn’t going to stay with him, they will buy out his 1 year and try to collect the insurance for sustained injuries. $20 Mil. They are SF. Won’t hurt them. If another team is stupid enough to pick him up, they’ll even get a split on the salary and gain some cap.

Good! The 49ers management needs to stop bs-ing about not doing anything about this problem. The player is very offensive

It is not overtime and not a game to watch. At an event, you are working. If you are lucky you get to look to see a particularly good play but most of the time not. And the officers are likely working extra hours off the city clock. Meaning, they are not getting overtime.

I highly doubt all of that. They work an extra day and don't get paid for it, same as if they stayed home? Lol! And they're not keeping an eye on the game while there? Lol again.

It’s a second job. They’re getting paid by the stadium or the 49ers, not the police dept, so not overtime.

as well they should.
Consequences, actions have consequences.
Where are the owners of the 9ers on this one?
If they don’t take a stand against this punk then the fans should boycott.

A lot of places the city will contract with the team. So while the team pays for the police service, the officers are actually being paid by the city and it counts as overtime. The issue that arises is that pensions are based on what you make in your best year, so guys can really pad their pensions by working a bunch of OT. Where I live there was a cop who worked almost 1400 hour of OT in one year, and that’s on top of a $70 ,000 base. There are sergeants making nearly 200,000 a year.

Good. Let the 49ers hire private patrols and may the fans stop coming in fear of their own safety. They are all jerks — both Kap and Management.

Let the 49ers, or better yet, make Kaepernick, pay for security at their games. It should cost him and his team.

I get why people are upset by this guy, who is an ingrate at least, but does this “outrage” really merit all this attention?

Hopefully, none of the other nearby city officers will not step up. If there are no security, then the 49ers can not play at the stadium.

The first home game is a Monday night game. If he is still on the team, then we (nearby Freepers) should organize a protest against the team and the NFL.

That would be great, but I assume they can be ordered to work the games or lose their jobs.

I think a great response would be for the 49er’s away games if the hometown crowds would threaten to boycott the games.

It would take only one game and the NFL would get serious.
