A Florida man is back in jail after clicking “like” on a Facebook photo posted by a witness in a case against him.

The SunSentinel (http://bit.ly/2bkYtBu ) reports that West Palm Beach judge Krista Marx revoked Paul Maida Jr.’s bond Wednesday, saying he violated a court order to avoid any contact with his ex-girlfriend Bianca Fichtel by liking a photo on her Facebook page earlier this month.

Seems like a pretty broad definition of the word ‘contact’ but I can see how that might be harassment depending on how messy the relationship had been.

An ex-girlfriend from 30+ years ago sent me a friend request a month or so ago. I was a little hesitant to accept

If you are married I can understand. If not, why worry?

I am married and so is she. I accepted the request because it has been a long time and we live 11,000 miles apart.

Long distance relationships can be hard.

I dated a girl that lived 50 miles away.

We couldn’t make it work.

I am not so sure. Something is a bit off here, maybe there is more to it.

If someone pisses you off on Facebook, you can simply block them--this is more than unfriending them, it means you will see nothing they do or say and they will not see you. And normally they have to be your "friend" to see and like stuff you post on your page (unless you make it open to the general public on purpose--and I still don't think somebody who is blocked can use it). Obviously somebody blocked can make a new profile and put their pic on it and then contact someone...

Maybe if she made a comment on a publicly shared post, and he liked the comment with a new profile she had not blocked with his pic on it so she would know it was him...otherwise, it seems kinda a weird ruling. If I want to avoid a person I would try unfriending and blocking them first before going to court....

I had something similar happen.

I checked with my wife before accepting the request, she said it was ok. In my case the old girl friend wanted to ask for forgiveness for some old issues that were not right. After we sorted that stuff out I politely remained connected for a couple months without talking to her much and then quietly unfriended her when there seemed to be no more air to clear.

So, Face-Full Book is good for something after-all.

I think I've sorted through most of my ex's at this point. In most cases FB contact is fine. Recently, one had moved near our area wanted to meet up for drinks (and invited my wife.) Now in some cases it may be fine but the last one set off warning lights some how. FB contact seemed fine but I am politely avoiding any physical social contact. They seem to have accepted that at this point.

I think what tripped off the alarm for me is the feeling that there was a large and emotional need behind the invite that she revealed in chat. That's the trap to avoid. I mean yeah, you can have women friends but given history I know better here.

"Just friends..."

She had already been to court and the court had ordered him to have no contact with the ex-girlfriend.

So I was guessing that the two had a very rocky relationship (probably violently physical) and she had a restraining order against him.
