Harry Fujiwara known to WWE fans as Mr. Fuji, died Sunday morning.

The five-time WWE World Tag Team Champion was known for his black tuxedo and bowler hat and his trademark move of grabbing a handful of salt (hidden in a small bag in his tights) and throwing it in the eyes of his opponents to “blind” them.

Oh yes, he had a great act. The WWWF was my home territory back in the seventies. I was a young kid but used to watch on uhf Spanish language tv.

Not a particularly great wrestler but a great personality and great storyteller in the ring.

I used to write for wrestling magazines in the early 1990s!

I believe this was in the entertainment section of the newspaper’s website and not sports. I read somewhere that recently ESPN added WWE stories to its website. Would you say this is more appropriate for the sports section or entertainment for a newspaper?

Neither, really. It’s not quite sport, but relegating it to just entertainment doesn’t seem right, either.

In the modern era it’s more entertainment, and a TV show. Back in Fuji’s era, wrestling was more it’s own thing and its own genre. I prefer that.

RIP. I always got the impression he was copying Harold “Oddjob” Sakata, himself a former wrestler turned actor.

If I remember correctly, Bullfighting articles used to appear in the Arts section of Spanish newspapers.

“I should have never hired a man, you can’t trust them” and then she calls a man to tie up Muraco and Fuji.

How about the interview when Muraco points to himself as Fuji and Fuji as Muraco. Clever, so not to reveal their true identities. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

He was a good villain. Always pulling some powder or “foreign object” out of his tights when the ref was distracted and as the “good guy writhed in agony standing there with that “who, me?” look, empty hands raised. As a kid I was outraged, outraged I tell ya!

People say it's fake and yes, there are scripts and storylines and predetermined belt holders but I defy non athletes to step into the squared circle with a Bret Hart, Harley Race or Ric Flair in his prime.

They could seriously hurt people if they wanted to
