Lawyers for StemExpress, Which Sold Planned Parenthood Aborted Baby Parts, Want to Quit

How bad must it be to serve as the attorneys for the biotech firm that sold aborted baby parts for Planned Parenthood? Apparently bad enough that the lawyers for StemExpress want to quit.

As the pro-life legal group Life Legal Defense Foundation, which has represented undercover investigator David Daliden, tells LifeNews.com: “Life Legal recently received notice that the high-priced law firm retained by StemExpress, the fetal specimen broker that sued David Daleiden, has filed a motion to be removed from the case.”

“McDermott, Will and Emery is one of the nation’s largest law firms, taking in almost $900 million in annual revenue. The Chicago-based firm was retained by StemExpress to file a lawsuit against David Daleiden after David’s videos revealed StemExpress’s role in the trafficking of baby body parts. StemExpress is a broker of human specimens, including aborted babies,” LLDF explained.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

StemExpress is the subject of a congressional investigation into the trafficking of fetal tissue and body parts. Its CEO, Cate Dyer, is shown in one of Daleiden’s videos defending the “cause” of Planned Parenthood, saying, “You’re either in the cause or you’re not. And if you’re not, you should just go,” since Planned Parenthood “need[s] champions in their house.”

“No wonder lawyers for StemExpress want to be removed from the case,” LLDF adds. The pro-life legal group continues:

So far, the congressional investigation, supported by Daleiden’s videos have found that StemExpress:

1 Violated federal health privacy (HIPAA) laws by reviewing the health records of women scheduled to receive abortions without patient consent;

2 Violated federal laws governing human subject research by making aborted fetuses available for research without consent;

3 Failed to obtain the required approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to conducting research on aborted fetal tissue;

4 Purchased aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers in violation of federal law;

5 Sold aborted fetuses to university labs and other research facilities in violation of federal law.

This is a “cause” no reputable law firm should want to champion.

Most likely, Planned Parenthood was slow in paying their legal bills.

Ephesians 5:11-13

11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13 But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them...

Apparently there are some things even lawyers won’t do.

The three things that lawyers and clients most often fight about in litigation are: payment for the lawyers; the direction of the case; and any blame due the lawyers for a loss or other adversity. As with marriages, between lawyers and clients, money is the biggest cause of breakups.

Most doubtful, actually.

If, by “direction of the case,” you include that the lawyers know that their client is guilty, and must behave unethically to defend them, then you are correct.

Lawyers are required by their code of ethics to defend their clients “zealously.” Sudden moral qualms halfway through a case would be unusual, and especially so as to StemExpress because the nature of the controversy was evident from the start.

Interesting. That you think so, in part, and because you are introducing the concept of “sudden moral qualms.”

Such things are rare but have been known to happen. Perhaps something like that took place with StemExpress and its lawyer. The odds though are that money issues and bickering between lawyer and client led to the parting of the ways.
