Axl Rose in 1983, barely out of Lafayette Jefferson High School in Indiana, was in a band called Rapidfire. This music was very recently "rediscovered". Axl doesn't have his classic sound yet, he's very young here ... I love this song, what do you think?

Axl Rose, 1983, Rapidfire, Closure ...

I want to know who abused him as a child that made him turn out that way.

I say that as a GnR fan.

Typical 3-chord progression (almost every first-time songwriter's choice, excepting those even more lame who start with 2-chord masterpieces...) repeated ad nauseum over banal, insipid, third-gradeer lyrics.

Just what I'd expect from an uninspired, talent-devoid piece of dirt like "Axl." Among America's rock cognoscenti, Guns'n'Roses are laughably referred to as "Bums-n-Poses." Like Bon Jovi, they are reknowned for ignorant lyrics, simple chording and copycat riffs.

Musically speaking, Axl sucked as a kid, and nothing has changed.

Here's another song pre GnR, not slash on the guitar, this song has Axl further along toward his eventual sound ...

Except that Saul Hudson (Slash) was (and still is) freaking awesome. He’s one of the few that actually didn’t go down the sex/drugs/R&R path and has comfortably retired as a philanthropist.

I just saw them in Cincinnati, been following their tour, there isn't a single bad write up and this from guys who love to trash bands. In fact, they've been glowing, Axl is a freakin monster on stage, played for 3 hours 15 minutes straight, Paul Brown Stadium nearly 40,000 people there and almost 100 degrees, the concert was absolute kick ass.

Sorry, but you have no idea about music at all based on your comments above, a few shots from the recent shows ..

Go read the media reviews by reporters who went to the shows, oh, and bite me ... ;)

Just ask and I'll post 10 reviews that state the tour, and Axl, are absolutely KICK ASS and absolutely monsters on stage.

He had a nice wail in his day

Guns and Roses always struck me as the last good gasp of Big Guitar Rock

More than a hair band

But alas

It’s all over now

What the hell are you talking about? you don't know shit. He's on tour with GnR now, hardly retired, and after Adler was the worst druggie, he actually died outside an elevator and when they found him he was blue, lucky to be alive, but nice try.

By the way, they are great together again, Axl was joking on stage, smiling, they started 15 minutes early, it was Axl, Slash, Duff, and Adler in Cincy ... Freakin' rocked

Tell us who you like then and a persoective on your age

I’m always curious when I see usual freeper ugliness

I was 30 when SCOM hit MTV and the airwaves

Btw simple chord progressions firm the basis of all rock and roll and most rock

Rocket 88 wasn’t exactly “rocket science chords” and the lyrics not exactly Byron

Give us something you’d promote against bad ol GnR

I'm not a huge fan of GnR, but 'Welcome to the Jungle' is probably the most engaging and gripping rock and roll song of all time. Hands down!

'Circle Jerks' is the best live band I've ever seen.

The era of big rock is over

We’re left with nostalgia tours

I’m fifty eight and have been watching nostalgia tours from the Stones and Skynyrd and Eagles Van Halen and Townsend Daltrey forever....but that’s nearing a conclusion too

My kids are depressed about music

There’s wigger culture music they despise....jugalow crap

There’s variations of distorted voice modern r and b

Country dirt road pop of which I like a handful....Miranda Lambert..

And then quasi rock spread all over where anyone can make a record and get on Raphsody cum Napster or maybe ITunes etc

I listen to say post 2000 music and very little impresses me....hard rock with drum accelerators or growl lyrics.....roots hipster music which is utter crap....worse than folk music

I shoulda seen that last Pink Floyd show I tell ya......

I like Jack White a bit....I drove by his house last nite....his sprinklers were on

“Typical 3-chord progression (almost every first-time songwriter’s choice, excepting those even more lame who start with 2-chord masterpieces...)”

Ugh, I can’t stand chord snobs. The great majority of megahit songs have always had very simple harmonic arrangements, because you don’t really need anything more complex to please the average listener, which is who pop music caters to.

Can you write a hit song with a really complex, unusual harmonic progression? Sure, but it’s not generally the most efficient way to get the job done.

Here they are in a pic from a week or so ago, remember they are in their mid 50's now too. A lot of pics floating around are fake doctored by the haters.
