The reason may be that they are afraid that someone will provide tainted food. That is just a guess, so don’t shoot me, LOL. Would they then be liable? Probably so. It has gotten to the point that those seeking help and sometimes those offering help have nefarious plans. It is a shame for sure, but the growing reality.

I agree. The tainted food thing. Also works for Halloween now, but I remember the popcorn balls, cookies and caramel apples that ladies used to make for us.

I have a friend whose brother works for the RC. They do treat people there badly.

I simply cannot understand any reason why an organization that can create its own website at low cost should go to the vIle FB where people have to register and involuntarily join to interact with that organization. I’m on FB only because I sometimes want to contact others. Otherwise,IMHO, it’s electronic vampire.

Great article, and what a fiasco. The bureaucracy of the Red Cross——and the government, boggles the mind.

I read a book some years ago that covers this type of thing. I think you would enjoy it.

“The Death of Common Sense” by Philip K.Howard.

Yes. As I mentioned in my #36, my O- made me a universal donor. However, anyone with O- can ONLY receive O-. This is why I was getting those letters.

" Basically, AB+ is the universal recipient so can take blood from anybody. O- is the universal donor so can donate to anyone. A- (which I have), and B- are the next most useful blood types for donations since the negative types can donate to either - or + of the same blood type or either AB, but not O. O+ can only donate to any positive blood type. So as AB negative, you actually have the choice of four other blood types as sources of donations, but can only donate to AB- or AB+."

Well that's good to hear. I was told long ago with such a rare blood type, I should stock up my own blood supply for emergencies. I also heard that any O type was the universal except for AB negative. Hope you are a MD or played one on TV or at least stayed at a Holiday Inn...ha. Guess I should research.

I wouldn't take me as the final authority. This is just what I looked up. In a life threatening situation, it is always better to consult a trained MD than a published manual.

If the later is available, but the former is not, there are people who have saved their life with do-it-yourself medicine. There will be more under ObaMaoCare.

I understand. I’ve known of my situation WRT blood type since that first time I donated. It is why I carry my “SPECIAL DONOR” card with me at all times.

I have my blood type attached to my Drivers License in my wallet. Unless it and I go up in flames, the med types will figure it out. Thanks for you input.

dear Daisy,

Thank you for the post.

As one who survived Hurricane Katrina, and was in “The Red Cross shelter also known as The River Center”, THEY did the same thing, then, too. Also, with the influx of Nat’l Guardsmen from other states, and the decree from the Mayor of Baton Rouge that all of us were ‘thugs’, we were treated as such, metal detectors and all.
